Amare is the heart and soul of the Suns...

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Sat Mar 13, 2010 5:28 am

I think tonights game proves it...

Even thought they lost the game, Amare had 29 points and 16 rebounds. We never doubted his scoring but he's picked up his rebounding. If we watch the games closely it looks like when Amare is involved and made the go to guy on offense his rebounds increase. Even though he was 10/22 from the field, under 50% he should always be getting more than 20 fga per game. That hasn't happened most of the time...

I know alot of people say give him the max or trade him he isn't worth the max, one thing we can agree with though is if he goes for barely anything or anything at all this team is going to be in a deep hole. I mean who is going to replace him? Frye? Lopez?

People have always been giving the credit as if this was Nash's team but Nash is just a picture in the puzzle, without Amare the offense would be stagnant. Sure he would get his assists numbers but he would lose his go to guy and be surrounded by a bunch of vagabonds, losers and misfits.

I understand the arguments for giving him the max and against it and can understand why management may not want to but the point is if you take Amare off this team, better off trading Nash and rebuilding. After saying this do I think Amare is worth the max personaly? No but would I rather have seen him get the max over Nash and Hill's combined 14M? You're damn right.

I guess you can say this is sort of an early Amare farewell thread since he's leaving this summer through his own will or in a sign and trade but I just want people to think about a Nash lead Suns team without Amar for a sec...

Nash keeps us competitive. Amare makes us a winner.

Its a no win thing for the Suns really..

Stoudemire looks like he will walk...

Ony hope is he agrees to sign and trade. Suns can get a lot more now that he is playing well.... for a contract nonetheless...

Suns heart and soul is Nash.... and thats not a bad or good thing, it could be better thats for sure.

+1 on Amar'e being the heart and soul of the Suns...and I said it elsewhere today but I would do a lot more to keep Amar'e with the Suns than probably most people here. You have to take gambles sometimes and I think he's a bit of a gamble at the price he'll demand on the open market, but from what we've seen lately the gamble could pay off.

Based on his play lately, I'd give him what he wanted. I just hope that if he does get extended (long term big deal) that he keeps up his play. He's supposed to be our guy, who leads us on after Nash. I mean, a few years ago, he was the chosen one!

If by heart and soul, you mean a heart and soul that only cares about itself, then I agree. But I think Amare would fall behind Hill, Dudley, and Lou for heart.

Oh well, this just comes down to an endless debate that usually is all based on opinion. :starwars

Amare has been balling lately and Id hate to see him walk in after this season. If only he somehow became a better defender and worked endless nights at then he could be a 25ppg 12 rebounding machine.

I'd love it if we could keep him but i dont think its going to happen if we dont give him as close to a max as possibly. Hopefully he understands that if we wanna win we gotta stock up on talent and chooses to take less so we can sign some extra guys for our bench.

He should have been extended a long time ago when he wasn't asking for the max. With the way he's playing someone we'll give it to him. Real shocker front office drops the ball again...

Suns should still give him a max type contract.

If he played like this all the time he'd be a max player. Too bad he doesn't or else we'd be an elite team.

You realize how screwed we are if he gets injured or decides he doesn't like playing defense again? I'm all for keeping him, but not at max type money.

If LBJ or KD want Max money over the next 6-7 years then yes. Anyone else no... Like i said Amare at 14-15 mil per year i'd be fine with.
