Official March Madness Thread

Post#1 » by Klomp » Sat Mar 13, 2010 4:41 am

This thread is long overdue. With the Gophers' upset win over MSU moments ago, I figured this is just as good a time as any....

Dammit, that hurt Tubby's cause. One less at-large available.

I think the Gophers deserve to get in. They beat Butler on a neutral court, beat Ohio State with Turner and Wisconsin with Leuer, Illinois in Champaign, Michigan State on a neutral floor, and they're playing well right now, 6-2 over the last 3 weeks. Unfortunately, they're 2 points away from being a lock. Hopefully they improve their case this afternoon. Unfortunately, they've really struggled to score against Purdue.

My God. Purdue is putting on the worst offensive performance I have ever seen. I though the wolves games had some terrible stretches but man. 4 points for 10 minutes. 10 percent shooting. Man.

Buckeyes and Gophers in the Big Ten Championship game? This game could decide a lot for both teams. Ohio State is playing for a #1 seed in the Dance, and we're playing just to get in.

Well.....I think we are in even if we lose, but a win would be so sweet.

If you listen to the ESPN guys (Hubert Davis and whoever else was on there), they still make it sound like the Gophers need to win or at least have a good showing today to get in.

I find it stupid how the media people set their "locks" early in the week and just make the bubble teams fight for a couple of spots amoungst themselves. I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two of the following "lock" teams to not make it: Clemson, Fl St., Wake Forest, Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, Missouri

I got that impression from the CBS guys, the ESPN guys I heard mostly thought the Gophers were in, but could use a win today if they wanted to feel comfortable, since they were one of the last few in.

I'd be surprised if any of those Big East teams didn't make it, same goes for Mizzou. I wouldn't be as shocked if one or more of those ACC teams didn't.

Lunardi currently has the Gophs as a #12 seed in the East, with a 50% chance of staying in the tournament and playing Maryland in the first round.

I think that would be a good matchup for us. Vasquez is good, but what else do they have?

I think there is still a good chance we don't get into the tournament. We almost have to win this game. If noy then I think we have to have a really good showing. The fact that this is a Minnesota team alone means we will have to work harder to get a spot. The universe doesn't like us.

College basketball hates Tubby. How else do you explain the awards snubs?

Way to get throttled in the 2nd half Gophers.

Coach: "At one point in the second half, I told Evan that he could take the game over. Right after he hit his first three and then he hit the other and that was it."

The kid literally took over on command.

Well I am certainly on the Evan Turner bandwagon.

Lets see....Mississippi State loses to Kentucky in overtime, and we get throttled by Ohio State...hopefully we're still safe
