I seen this was close to completion earlier today. Solid deal, can't go wrong really. Best available talent we could have signed without having to give up a fat contract or draft picks. Plus, we don't have to use one of our top two picks in the draft to select a RB.

This team is built to win now and in the future. Gotta love what Tannenbaum has put together over the past few years. Let's see how the safety situation plays out and add some depth through the draft and let's go to town.

Haven't been this excited about a football season in a while.

Great move. Got a good goal-line back who is a leader.

Not trying to be a debbie downer, - and for you "move it to the football thread folk" - come on. What important topics is this thread blocking. It's New York news, let it be discussed here for a day. It won't kill you.

But - wouldn't it be fair to say that Thomas Jones has been better than Tomlinson for the last 2 years? How does this help the jets? I'm not trying to hate, I'm just asking. I'm a jets fan but not a big follower of football.
Bill Clinton slept with an intern. A consenting adult and he got impeached and nearly disbarred as a result. Donald Trump went to parties showcasing underaged women brought in as basically prostitutes, and he says it's nothing.

Double standard?

I'm going with TJ didn't want a reduced role, after having two career years. Now let him go to KC and get exposed. LT probably knows he is not a every-down back anymore. Plus, he is a year younger.

This is all about the PSL's.

Tomlinson is clearly no longer the Tomlinson that once was dominating the league, but I know he can be a good scat back for us. He can catch the ball out of the backfield and we have a good offensive line. He came cheaper than Thomas Jones so that's always a plus.

I'm not sure what this means for Leon Washington though.

also has to do with his versatility (ie catching out of the backfield) and working with shotty again

The Jets get a great leader and a great backup to Shonn Greene...unlike Thomas Jones, LT can CATCH FROM THE BACKFIELD.

Sanchez needs that in his sophmore year

Well Shonn Greene is really replacing the role of Thomas Jones in that he will start and get the majority of the touches. I liked TJ, but he seemed to lose a step hard towards the end of the season. He's had some nagging and lingering leg issues and seemed to only run to the right for the last few games of the season and in the playoffs. TJ was a great clubhouse guy and a true leader, that will be missed. But he was cut due to the roster bonus, plain and simple. If we could have had him back on the cheap that he signed for in KC and we offered him those touches, he'd still be a Jet.

LT was a solid option off the remaining backs and compliments Greene well. Gives Shotty and Sanchez another weapon off screens and would be a solid mentor to Leon Washington. LT was running behind a pass happy offense who was horrible blocking the run. With 8-10 rushes a game, you really can't go wrong with LT here.

Plus, as stated before, we've filled yet another hole with a solid option before the draft. We can draft for depth instead of filling positions of need.

LT at this point is much worse than TJ. If the money that they saved by cutting TJ equals to LTs deal than this is a bad move.

Jones looked cooked in the postseason and Greene is the starter imho. I think LT will be the back-up and act as a second back in the attack. Give him the line we rock and our smash 'em style and he could have a resurgence to some extent. I really like this deal actually.

Gotcha,

So it wasn't a "get this off the Knicks board" post - it was a "show some love for the football board" post.

That's cool.

RGM's other sports boards are kinda dead and I'm not sure that's something that can be easily resolved.

I visited the mets board a few times, but it's so much more rewarding to discuss baseball elsewhere.
