^ He was injured last year. He played in all 16 games the 5 years prior. If he's in good shape and able to play... I see no reason to hold his first injury ever against him.

Delhomme signed with Cleveland. We should have pushed hard for Jake, that sucks

God no, he wants to start. The Browns have completely rebuilt their QB depth chart. Can't say I blame them, but I really never expected them to so completely change over so quickly.

Delhomme is on a 7 million dollar contract. Holy sh-! That's way too much for a has been.

And Larry Foote resigns with Pittsburgh. I don't blame him. The dude did everything he could for us. Even took the home town discount. He deserves to win.

Kevin Seifert at ESPN.com is reporting that the Lions are hosting Anthony Hargrove tonight in Detroit. He's a restricted FA and the Saints would have the right to match any offer the Lions make. If the Lions sign him, he'd cost us our 3rd round pick.

Hargrove can play both DT and DE. He's really add to our improving d-line. If we draft Suh *crosses fingers*, Hargrove would most likely start opposite KVB at LDE with Avril used as depth.

^ not for our third rounder. no way

If we plan on Suh than we dont need a whole lot of D-lineman right now. And certainly not for a third

This would definitely mean we are drafting Okung.

John Niyo is reporting that it's for a 2011 3rd... and that if the Saints agree not to get the 3rd, the two teams could work out other compensation for Hargrove. So getting AH, which isn't set in stone at all, still might not affect this years draft.

I don't think it means we are getting Okung... I think he's more likely to wear a Lions jersey than McCoy is, but Schwartz wants a completely rehauled d-line. He told KVB as much, according to KVB, when he went to his house to sign him.

I could see the Lions signing Hargrove and Pitts, and then draft Suh. We could use Cliff Avril and Sammie Lee Hill as depth.

A. Hargrove/C. Avril
C. Williams
N. Suh/S.L. Hill
K. Vanden Bosch
J. Peterson/Z. Follett
D. Levy/J. Dizon
E. Sims/C. Campbell?
C. Houston
???????
L. Delmas
???????/J. Wade

There's no way that Mayhew and Schwart's would bring in two decent DT's and still draft Suh. They are obviously trying to build our D as much as possible and try to upgrade our OLine with our first round pick. I mean, it only makes sense. Hargroves AND Williams can start at DT and be adequate. There is no way that we gave up those picks for backups. On the other side of the ball, If we draft Okung, we solidify our OLine by putting Okung at LT and Backus at LG.

I just don't see why they would be so worried about DLine in FA and still draft Suh. Makes no sense at all and I think your love for Suh is blinding you from the truth of what they are doing.

Hargrove doesn't mean no Suh.....but it could definitely mean LIKELY no Suh.

A 4-man rotation of Suh/Hargrove/Williams/Hill is pretty impressive. If we get Pitts, that solidifies the O-line as well.

Maybe the Lions are unsure whether Suh will be there at #2 and are exploring different options in case the Rams take him. I think its clear we want Okung if Suh is off the board. If Suh's there, I still think he's the pick - likely meaning Hargrove is not signed.

We likely don't look to sign Pitts or Hargrove until closer to draft time....

I'm not going by my love for Suh.... I'm going by what's being reported by and around the Lions. Schwartz has said, to KVB and others, that the defense and most importantly, the Defensive Line are his TOP priority. Williams and Hargrove might be upgrades over what we had.... but they are hardly building blocks for our future. Hell, Hargrove isn't even a Lion yet, Saints could still decide to match, IF he even gets an offer.

Mostly what is being said, is that if Suh is there... he's a Lion... if not.. the Lions want Okung and will either move down to grab him, or they could take him at #2. I don't think Hargrove interviewing signals Suhs not a target, anymore so than Chester Pitts interviewing meaning Okung isn't a target. I really think it's 1. Suh 1a. Okung is the Lions eyes.

http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl

Updating a previous item, Mark Berman, of FOX 26 Houston, reports free-agent OG Chester Pitts (Texans) said he will visit the Detroit Lions Wednesday, March 17, and could sign with the team if the offer is right.

"If the Lions give me something I can't refuse, I am not leaving Detroit and I will cancel my trip to San Francisco," Pitts said. Pitts added he is impressed with what's happening in Detroit. "I like what (Lions Head) Coach (Jim) Schwartz is doing," Pitts said. "He's really upgraded his defense by adding (DL) Corey Williams and (DL) Kyle Vanden Bosch."

I guess we should know by today... either Pitts signs like he says... or he goes to San Fran.

Ehh, I'd rather have Backus at LG. I mean, we all know that Backus is a liability in pass protection... but he is an elite run blocker. One of the best in the NFL. Backus could finally be the elite lineman that Mayhew and Schwartz claims he is if he is slid over a spot. I think that is best case scenario for our OLine. Then, our C would be our worst position.

In addition to OG Pitts, the Lions also reportedly had LB Landon Johnson visit today.

http://www.freep.com/article/20100317/S ... with-Lions

Linebacker Landon Johnson is visiting the Detroit Lions today, his agent, Andy Simms, confirmed.

Johnson, 29, spent the last two seasons playing mostly special teams for the Panthers under Danny Crossman, who is now the Lions’ special teams coach. The 6-foot-2, 232-pounder was a starter the previous four years for the Bengals.

The Lions also are supposed to host guard Chester Pitts today. Pitts, 30, started 114 consecutive games for the Texans before suffering a knee injury last year. He is recovering from surgery.

Matt Maiocco, of The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports the Detroit Lions are scheduled to meet with unrestricted free-agent LB Akin Ayodele (Dolphins) Friday, March 19.

Lions are looking EVERYWHERE for upgrades. It's why I don't think any one player coming in for interviews nessecarily affects the Lions draft.

Also, the Lions could add players and then make trades. We know they've thought about moving Peterson... is anyone really shocked that they are bringing in LBs to try out? It's not a sign of things to come... but its all across the roster.

Per wiretap, Lions are hosting Adam "Pacman" Jones this morning. Reportedly, they are one of four teams that are seriously interested in the vet CB.

I dunno how I feel about this. I think he's a good CB, might even still be able to be the #1 option on a team. But I'm not sure his mindset is right for a young team like the Lions.

However, if anyone knows about Pacman it's Schwartz. The Titans wanted Pacman back when he got suspended. When the Titans thought about trading him, when Goodell was messing around with his reinstatement, the Lions were one of the teams showing interest in him.

If he's in great shape, can still play, agrees to behave, take a cheap short contract.... I wouldn't be too upset over the signing... but that's alot of "ifs".

He was never really that good of a CB since his Titans days. But he was always a ST threat.
