Granger wants John Wall

Post#1 » by greenway84 » Mon Mar 15, 2010 10:51 pm

Danny Granger hopes the Pacers win the lottery and draft John Wall.

"Honestly, you’d want the No. 1 pick and, if we had the No. pick, I’d take John Wall. I think he’s the best player in the draft. There’s some other good players in this draft: Evan Turner (a guard from Ohio State), the big kid from Kentucky, DeMarcus Cousins … But I would still take John Wall."

No surprise here. I think this is Danny's way of saying "HEY, get me some top tier talent please!" I highly doubt this happens, but one can dream.

^^ I'm with Starkiller. It's a good sign from Danny. He isn't getting any younger and our team still looks like a mess. But, there are other players in this draft that would help our team a lot as well. Wall though, could be very special. Just look at Chris Paul and Deron Williams and see what they did for their teams. John Wall could turnaround our franchise.

Get Cousins. and get the warriors to give you monta ellis. Don't need John Wall trust me! If you guys want to be there in the east in the next few years. trade for Ellis

Cousins Granger Ellis is a core you can build around

I just don't see how Bird can take Wall over Turner, and leaving a gaping scoring gap that needs to also be filled if Brandon Rush isn't the answer.

They would have to be convinced Rush is the answer at SG for me to change my mind about taking Wall over Turner. Right now, that's a long ways away from happening.

Yeah the Warriors will just hand you Ellis without asking for anything.
Dumbass--Ellis is playing like a top SG and u think Warriors will just "Give you guys Monta Ellis" without asking for either your pick (Cousins as you said) or Granger??

Having a PG who is both a playmaker in scoring for himself and setting up others, is something the Pacers have not had maybe ever. Wall might not be as prolific of a scorer as Turner yet; however, don't forget his playmaking ability in regards to putting the rest of the team in position to get easy scores.

I would venture to say that a trio of Wall, Rush, and Granger would have more points than a trio of Watson/Ford, Rush, and Granger.

And Lakers fans have been living in luxury for too long and are completely out of touch with what it means to be a rebuilding franchise.

John Wall, if he continues to be the superstar that he is destined to be, will be the star in Indiana and allow Granger to be the 2nd all-star role that he works better in.

At least he's a Lakers fan who knows which baseball and football team to support.

Two out of three ain't bad. Dump the Lakers for the Pacers and he will be one rockin' dude. Come on now, we all know the Pacers are the Future.

Wall can be a prolific scorer, and with him playmaking as the PG, it will make scoring easier for Danny, Roy, and Rush. With Wall, they have 3 legit scoring threats w/ a wing shooter in Rush.

As for Monta, it's well documented I LOVE the guy, but I just don't see how we can get him and still be able to draft Wall and keep Danny/Roy. Maybe they take a combo of Rush/Murphy or something. They don't want Wall because Curry is their PG of the future. Or so it seems.

So if I said you had a 11.9% chance of living through sky diving. Would you think thats high enough to jump out of the plane? And to add to that the guy who loaded your chute wanted you dead (David Stern to the Pacers) would you think you would land safely?

I know everyone raves about Wall, and he probably deserves the raves. But I have a feeling Evan Turner could be another Reggie Miller--not in terms of style of play, ncessarilly, but in having the same assassin's instincts.

I try to stay positive and say that we have a 50% of getting the #1 pick. Either we do......or we don't.

Speaking of comparing guys to Reggie Miller, I'm really surprised you don't see more college coaches drawing up plays or simply just telling their best shooters to basically run around like a chicken with their head cut off on the offensive end, look for a screen, and hit the spot-up Jumper. Really the only guy you see doing that in the NBA anymore is Rip.

Well I reviewed the top 5 of each draft year all the way back to 2002 comparing it against how teams finish, and you might find these two factoids to be intriguing.

#1: If you are a 3-4-5 seed the chances of you moving up 2-4 spots in the draft are dramatically higher vs. seeds 6 and so on. At least one or two teams who finished with the 3rd, 4th, or 5th worst record, got into the top 3 of the draft in every lottery in the last several years.

#2: The worst place you want to be in the lottery is the 2nd worst record in the NBA. Currently held by Minnesota. The 2nd place finishing team has picked no higher then 4th in the last 7 years of NBA drafts.

It's tough to find the bigs who set good picks. Reggie had the benefit of great pick-setters.

Just pick wisely. That's all I ask of Bird in this upcoming draft.
