I don't like slap fights myself. On the other hand I don't understand this number change. I almost hope that Arenas gets 6 weeks or 6 months to lay some real significance with it. I'm a big fan of Arenas don't get me wrong, but I hope all this doesn't change him into someone I can't connect with. Hope it makes him smarter, but not jaded. Number 6.

In some ways, the number change seems quite tied into celebrity culture. "Hmmm, what will I do next. Even I don't know," Arenas told a roomful of reporters ready to pass the information on to a large audience via print, television, web, and satellite telecommunications, "Maybe I'll change my number to 6." Stop the presses!
For similar reason, we get endless material for Crabaliers thread, because they keep shoving mikes into LeBJ's face, and he keeps talking.

And if we are objective about it, isn't that why people hate LeBron so much ? It was never about the talent. It was about how much he wanted to be the guy. About how much he wants to be adored like MJ was and how hard he trying to manufacture that attention.
Honestly, how different is Gil in that regard than LeBron. I think people are just blinded by the fact that Gil was on our team. But I see little difference in those people from how I see the Cleveland fans. And even funnier is that they don't see that about each other.
Gil has won nothing, like LeBron. At least LeBron went to the finals.
They are both very talented.. LeBron a lot more so
They both are immature ego please love me and look at me people that are clueless.
The main difference is Lebron came in the league with a silver spoon and Gil was an underdog. The walked through different doors but they are more similar than different.
I'm not a fan of either because of the same reasons. At least be consistent people.
Sorry but the truth hurts sometimes.

Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas still wants to change his jersey number, but he wants something other than No. 6.

Easy to see why he would want 6 if LaDouche is working to wear it. Gil is looking for a new image and I don't think that association feels right to him.
I'm still shooting for 5, 12 or 15
I like 15 best - totally team.

I think with Wall gil and Dray may not need to change their numbers. Wall allows Arenas to be hibachi and the assassin. The sharpshooter. Let if Gil comes to the game with his guns loaded leading the league in scoring. Gilbert is Agent Zero!! Agent Zero is a sniper from the three point line and he destroys you taking it to the paint with power and coordination. I hope Gil doesn't change his number.
Seven Day Dray is perfect. Don't change it. Now McGee and Nick Young need to change their numbers because they have no proven track record of success.
Wall allows Gilbert to be HIBACHI.
Remember Wall and Blatche are way better running mates than Caron and Jamison.
Wall and blatche are way better running mates than Hughes and Jamison.
Arenas has running mates that are both above average offensively and defensively. Gilbert has the freedom to now be gilbert because his starters can hold their own on both sides of the floor. No more worrying about carrying the team on your back during clutch but we know Hibachi... is Hibachi because he roast you from three point land...and if you double him...he roast you with is power and coordination when attacking the rim. He has 10 times better version of Jamison in Blatche..and he has ten times better version of Hughes..with Wall. And we have reinforcements potential to blow up with McGee, Young, Seraphin, Booker, and hopefully another 6'9 agile, three point dropping, strong body small forward.
He has a steady smart hinrich to bring intangibles.

Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

The Psychic Scars That Shaped an NBA Star
I didn't see this posted about why #9. Maybe it was but I missed it. Wow, what a story. I think I remember reading this a long time ago when it was posted. The kid really has an interesting story. It would be great if in the end, it all works out for him. Everyone likes a Rudy story.

I don't recall if I've ever seen that, but I've seen most of the information contained in the article. Lot's of players have compelling stories, Caron and Lebron to name just two. Obviously, not without flaws. Arenas' story has been to me one of the most compelling, and I'm sure it has a lot to do with why I've rooted for him to turn it around at those times when he's exhibited flaws that run counter to the team's and his own interests. It was a quirky and heroic story, and it could yet be even more heroic. I'm still rooting for him. #9.

New nickname for Gil: District 9.

That's funny. District 9. I'm still pulling for Cloak and Dagger. Wall is so fast and nifty that it's like he is wearing a cloak and Gil.... we know how buck likes to call Dagger. And Cloak and Dagger works with the Wizards theme.
But District 9 is interesting also.
