He committed this to Season Ticket Holders last night before the Bulls Game.
About time this was set in stone.
Good job Heisley for committing to keep this nucleus together.

Archived messages from Heisley to season ticket holders:
circa November 2007
"We will not trade Pau Gasol"
circa November 2000
"We are not leaving Vancouver"
Seriously though, I hope they don't pull a "Pau" with Rudy and match a too expensive/bad deal. IMO Rudy is the 3rd most important piece of the puzzle in Memphis, and like Pau, although gifted - he's not an Alpha dog. You can't make the 2nd offensive option/3rd or so most important player the top paid guy.

Re: Grizzlies to match all Offers for Gay
As a Vancouver fan who witnessed Heisley lie to the entire city and then litterally pack up and sneak out in the middle of the night I don't believe a single word that ever comes out of his mouth. I'll believe it when I see it. But I do agree that keeping as much of the main pieces together is important for moving up the ladder to become a playoff team.
But since Heisley always has an eye on the bottom line I have to wonder where he will cut in order to afford Gay. His options are to take a one year hit and look to replace Randolph while re-signing Gasol, or trading Conley for a lower priced pointguard, or trying to re-sign Randolph cheaper while seeing if Thabeet can take over for Gasol, or a combination of sorts.
I don't see him paying to keep Gay, re-sign Randolph and Gasol at market value which if they continue like this next season should be in excess of $22mil per season for both combined, do what he said he would do and re-sign Brewer who could fetch around $4-5mil per, plus give Conley a raise above the $5mil range he makes.
So if a team like MInnesota, New York, or New Jersey offer up a $13mil per season five year deal that might even be front loaded I bet Heisley will think twice and demand Wallace explore a sign and trade to see what he can get in return for a lesser cost.

Re: Grizzlies to match all Offers for Gay
He can say all he wants about what he will do, but if Rudy doesn't play ball and keep the interest of the Grizz in mind first, Heisley could get screwed royally. Yes any deal Rudy signs will be for less money potentially than he can get from the Grizz. Yet the problem will come in is the per year average can be front loaded along with a trade kicker that would make it cost prohibitive to move him. i.e. Josh Smith If Rudy plays ball and does not sign an offer sheet prior to letting the Grizz know what the offer is, which would be indicative of him wanting to stay without hampering the franchise, it will be all good. If he puts pen to paper on a poison pill deal the ramifications could be huge down the line with last nights lineup being a glimpse of the future.
If Brewer is resigned which is almost as important as signing Gay and no major backcourt moves are made get ready for the OJ Mayo show to come off the bench ala Ben Gordon next season, which solves the lack of Offensive punch from the bench issue.

I am not against trading Rudy, but I do believe it is best to S&T.
We need value for him.
As far as trading Pau, that deal has really benefited us.
