We got nothing to lose. bring it on! Although he did get schooled on Pros vs Joes. Hopefully he's in better shape today.

"If the Lions give me something I can't refuse, I am not leaving Detroit and I will cancel my trip to San Francisco," Pitts said. Pitts added he is impressed with what's happening in Detroit. "I like what (Lions Head) Coach (Jim) Schwartz is doing," Pitts said. "He's really upgraded his defense by adding (DL) Corey Williams and (DL) Kyle Vanden Bosch."
I guess we should know by today... either Pitts signs like he says... or he goes to San Fran.
Well, Pitts left and is on his way to San Fran. So does that mean likely no Pitts?

James Varney, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports unrestricted free-agent CB Adam Jones (Cowboys) did not show up to his scheduled workout Friday, March 19. It is not known why Jones did not show up for the workout.

Nah, he showed up:
Looks like a scout needs to get fired for making himself and the team he works for look like a complete idiot.

The problem apparently is that Jim Varney of the Times-Picayune believed that the session would occur at the same place where the Tulane Pro Day occurred. It's actually happening at another location.

Re: 2010 Free Agents
Apparently, Tulane Universaity changed their minds and did not want Pacman there distracting people from their players. So Pacman changed venues. Everyone knew (teams, scouts, etc) just not reporters.

Re: 2010 Free Agents
NFL reporters are really bad on average, I get a little desensitized to things like this, all too commonplace. Sloppy people in charge that don't demand accountability and quality just leads to a weaker NFL product for us all.

Re: 2010 Free Agents
What I don't understand is.... If a reporter showed up, and all he seen was reporters and no scouts, why would they think that HE was the noshow rather then themselves being the ones that effed up? I mean, instead of saying Pacman noshowed, they should have said, "Pacman noshowed but it's ok cuz there was no interest from scouts to begin with."
Lol. Geesh.

Re: 2010 Free Agents
Ravens said they would trade Jared Gaither for a 2nd round pick. The guy is an elite LT that had one injury last season. He's only 23 years old. I think we get him and don't even think twice about it.

Re: 2010 Free Agents
I'd be okay with that. We could slide Backus over to LG and then draft an OL in the draft to learn behind them.

Re: 2010 Free Agents
If the second round pick wasn't so high it might be an option. If trades happen and the Lions are lower in the second round or get another second rounder I could see trading but I doubt they would give up #34 or whatever # it is.

I posted on another board how we should have taken him in the supp draft and I went specifically with the 4th round before the draft. It would have worked out perfectly and for a low cost with little risk. A pure no-brainer at the time. I was livid when I heard the Ravens got him for a 5. And now we're talking about giving a high 2nd for him? Another kick in the nuts to the guy that figured this one out correctly THE FIRST TIME.

Re: 2010 Free Agents
Per wiretap, Hargrove is going to sign his tender. The Saints wanted him back. I really don't see them trading him unless they get a really good offer.
I think the Lions are more likely to go after Sims or Gaithers.

Rom Sims traded to the Lions.
Another trade filed to ESPN: Seattle traded guard Rob Sims to Detroit. So the Lions improve their offensive line.
Depending on what draft pick we gave them, this could be a very good move. He only gave up 1 sack and 10 QB pressures last year. He is a top 10 LG in the NFL that didn't fit the zone blocking scheme Seattle runs.

Re: 2010 Free Agents
I love the move. I don't see us giving up a 2nd for Gaithers anymore, but we could still draft an O-linemen in the draft to develop. Backus/Jansen are getting older, Peterman can't see to stay healthy and Cherilus hasn't worked out so far.
Stafford gets a little more protection now though. With Sims at LG, Backus should improve at LT because he won't have to cheat as much trying to cover both spots. We'll see how it works out, but I really like the move.

Re: 2010 Free Agents
The draft pick was a 5th, and the Lions also sent Robert Henderson (?) to Seattle for a 7th.

It doesn't appear as though any more signings are imminent.
Maybe another 1/2 after some June cuts??

I wouldn't bet on anything with this team. Well except that Pacman Jones seems to have less and less of a shot with this team with every passing day.

Re: 2010 Free Agents
Lions re-signed Jared DeVries to a 1-yr contract. He's not even healed from his torn achilles. I don't get it.
