The thing to keep in mind is that it's going to happen even more in the next couple of years. The economy has killed a lot of owner's other interests and many teams have been hurting in a major way in terms of ticket sales and sponsorships. BC has often said that we're more likely to be buyers and if we were to free up space in the case of a Bosh departure, you can bet many teams would be looking to us to make deals with. They'd give up a player of whatever value, plus a pick to grease the wheels.

Maybe , but PHX turned around and traded for a 20 mill a year Shaq that failed. That was retarted.

Actually, it's the opposite, It's good for rebuilding teams because you take on players in the final year o two of their contracts and get extra draft picks in compensation.

Take Orlando and Rashard Lewis.

Seattle signed and traded Lewis to Orlando, got a big trade exception, took Kurt Thomas plus two first rounders from PHX using that trade exception, and eventually traded Thomas to SAS for another first. You wonder how OKC has been building so well, well Durant and Westbrook are only part of it. Follow how they have used cap space.

What PHX did was retarted. They traded a solid player on a fair contract and draft picks for capspace (owner being cheap). When was the last time that happend besides that incident?

Happens a couple of times a year. Not always such a flagrant giveaway, but players are given away all the time. That's how OKC landed Eric Maynor this year. Nice prospect to back up Westbrook.

We're not giving up that much of any TPE. Get it through your head. Miami picks won't be worth much and ours is still lottery protected until 2014. It's not worth $7 million in crap takebacks to agree to such a trade. Bosh will have to take a 5 yr deal or go somewhere else.

Rudy Gay is gone from Memphis IMO.

Would you rather have a 17 mil TPE over a 10 mil TPE + a 14-20 first? I'd take the latter easily. And I certainly wouldn't let Bosh walk and give away 2 1sts and a TPE

As for the 7 mil in crap takebacks, it's only 4 mil in real salary hit, plus Cook will be our backup SG which is worth about 2. It's not a game change to take on that salary

I think Bosh's agent, Henry Thomas, could play a big role in what ultimately transpires.

I say this, because Bryan Colangelo seems to be very conscientious about maintaining a good rep with the agents, and just in general. And for that reason, I think all parties (the Raptors, Bosh's desired destination, the agent) will go into the negotiations hoping that it won't get to the point where BC tells Bosh and his agent that he can't give him that extra year because the other team is not giving us the best deal. BC just doesn't seem to be the type who would piss around with the agents/players. So BC will work with Bosh and his agent so long as they can agree to a fair deal. Now, with Pat Riley, you just know he's going to try to stall for the best deal, and if that is where Bosh wants to be, and it gets to the point where BC is all that is standing between making that happen or killing it, I'd imagine there would be some backlash if the latter occurs.

sign & trade favorites........

Bosh(s & t) & caldy to LA
Bynum & Artest & S. Brown to T.O

Martin & Battier & Brooks to TO
Bosh & Caldy to HOU

three team trade:

Boozer to TO

Bosh to New York

Lee & expirings to Utah

Ive stated it before....if bosh leaves we need a rebounding shot blocking center and a couple serious defenders on the wing if we can get those assets in return and try and pry a pick off of a team it would be great. Alot of people hate BC but I think he is the best GM for this situation. He knows how to get creative and could include three or four teams in the trade.

Simple three way with Minnesota and OKC.

OKC gets: Bosh + Bellinelli -> become an absolute powerhouse

MIN gets: Harden + Tor 2011 2nd -> get there starting SG of the future

TOR gets: Green + Rubio + Pekovic -> Pekovic is the anti-Bargnani in every way.

PG Rubio/Jack
SG DeRozan/Sonny
SF Green/Turk/Wright
PF Bargs/Amir
C Pekovic/Evans

I like that doesn't seem terribly far-fetched; some variations of picks could definitely make that work. Makes us terribly weak at centre though maybe jose or jack could get us some help there.

He feels. with the other team in the Bonus, Yao becomes the best player in the league because he's hard to stop without fouling on the catch and the rate he makes his FT's.

Martin could be one of those players, but in terms of our needs... we drastically need some defensive IQ badly. Martin might compliment our roster well with Bosh still on it, since Bosh can assert himself into plays regardless of them being run for him but I couldn't predict the same for Andrea. Martin will likely take a lot of opportunities away at the cost of his involvement. He will no doubt get to the line and score a bunch wherever he plays and I think between him and Bosh they would add a new dimension against teams in foul trouble.

In short though, I'd probably try and package Andrea + Calderon + others for Martin + 2 of Jeffries/Hayes/Battier in this scenario, but Houston probably wouldn't do it since Adelman will have nightmares about swiss-cheese defense and their team would probably be worse off.

2) Bosh needs us to get extra 30 million and that extra year

so i think well get a good return.

only teams over the cap will give you anything good, & then Bosh would have to sign off on it 1st. If bosh want to go to a team under the cap like MIA/CHI/NYN/NJN/OKC/WAS, or one of the other ones, then all TOR will get back is a 1st, & a TPE, maybe a player like Cook to clear some salary.

If Bosh leaves I think this franchise is done in Toronto, so the best option is to do everything possible yo keep Bosh in Toronto...This includes trading Bargnani for true center.

In a normal trade the GM sits back and listens to competing offers if any. In this S+T scenario Bosh says where he prefers to go and takes 126m and 6 years with him. Ideally the Raps send him west like Houston for the best save face scenario. Maybe there is nothing out west that the Raps really want or is not Bosh's first choice. Yao may never be the same again. New York may truly be his first choice but is not attractive to Colangelo because Lee does not compliment Bargnani but surprise Philly comes up with a deal that takes Bosh/Jack/Banks(expiring), then sends back Brand, Dalembert (big expiring), Jrue Holiday plus the number 6 selection in 2010 and the 36 in 2011. Teams work out deals all the time for the team with the pick to make the selection for them and then have it moved in a later deal. Bosh conceivably might want to be in a high density high profile east market like Philly if not in New York and be closer to his daughter. Failing that he might like Chicago but my bet is Chicago does not dangle Noah just as Miami does not dangle Beasley so he does not go to either. I think by getting the Philly selection the Raps go for a big in the draft of which there are plenty and Bargnani moves to the 4 full time. Calderon/Holiday or Holiday/Calderon are the point guards. The big prize in the draft for the Raps would be Demarcus Cousins.

id send them Jack too. Maybe this works. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Raptors Send:
Jarrett Jack $4,600,000
Chris Bosh $16,500,000 (S&T max contract)

Raptors Get:
Devin Harris $8,981,000
Brook Lopez $2,413,320
Keyon Dooling $3,828,000
Yi Jianlian $4,050,499

Works so they keep max room + have room to sign someone else (would go to 32 million after signing Wall and this trade), so if the cap room is at 53 million its 21 million to spend.

Harris/Calderon/Banks
Derozan/Belinelli/Dooling
Hedo/Weems
Bargnani/Jianlian/Evans
Lopez/Johnson/Jordan(2nd rounder)
= dream come true. No joke like a dream come true. Thats a sick ass return id do it in a heartbeat.

Wall/Jack/Atkins (minimum)
Lee/CDR
Lebron/Williams/Minimum player
Bosh/Humphries
Camby(7 million)/FA/Lawai(2nd rounder)

would have 7 million cap space after signing Lebron. Could go after Haywood/Camby or other C.

any chance lmao or am i dreaming.

You could have said the same thing when Vince was traded. Bosh was the only young talent on the team and he was barely averaging 13/7 at the time. It's going to be tough at first, but hopefully the embarrassment of losing CB will wake Colangelo up. One great draft could rejuvenate the fanbase fairly quickly.
