Game News

This will be the start of 5 game road trip for the Lakers, they go into this game with a 6 game winning streak. They have won 20 of 33 games on the road this season. The Lakers have split their first two games against San Antonio.

For the Spurs this will be the 6th game in 9 days, where the Spurs are in one of the toughest stretches of their schedule. They're coming off a win against the Thunder on Monday night in Oklahoma. The Spurs currently are 6th in the Western Conference, and sit a 1 1/2 games behind the Suns and 3 games back of the Jazz for 4th.

Game Analysis

The Lakers must continue to pound away at the Spurs interior defense, they don't have the size advantage to contain the Lakers. The Spurs are using 3 guys in their starting lineup that would be coming off the bench for them, stripping away the depth they once had. Once again the Spurs will mascaraed a forward at the center position.

McDyess will try to guard Gasol in the post, the Lakers need to exploit him early and often. Make Duncan a help defender. As always with these games against the Spurs the Lakers must win the battle on the boards. Lamar must be active and effective against Duncan. Kobe will be checked by Ginobili and Keith Bogans from the bench. Won't matter since he averages 26 points a game on them for his career verses the Spurs.

The keys to winning will be simple, score in the interior of the Spurs defense, ball movement and rebounding.

Gotta say: This 5 Game Roadie really gives me the feeling that this is the turning point in our season. The time is now to crank it up a notch. Go out on the road, win 5, make a statement, and show other teams were not messing around and being complacent. We mean business.

If we play like we did on that last 3 game roadie, this is when my true true worries will set in.

Big week boys, let's get it

Nice thread. I would like to see Pau Gasol go to work against Duncan.

I wonder who is gonna make up the 45 points for them since Parker is out (I'm assuming he would score 45 on us)

Tell me about Worthy, if you noticed I don't even list how many times we tap that ass in the regular season. But that 18 out of 26 in the playoffs still works for me homie !

Spurs are like the oldest stripper in the club. Nobody wants them but they still try to sell dances.

With that said, lets get a swagger building win to start this road trip. Something tells me that we sweep this 5 game series, might be LO's return to the starting line up.

well the Spurs had really good run. I'm not saying they can't win this game- they are dangerous floppy old strippers, but big picture wise they need more a minor tweak or we'll watch Tim grow old and squander his talent.

We need to kill these clowns. The last time Sedale and myself attended the Spurs game and we got our asses kicked, so I want some kind of damn redemption for having to sit through that nonsense.

We lost for two reasons:

1) They went on 3-point frenzy in the 2nd quarter and blew the game open. That means we need to stay at home on their shooters and allow our bigs to take care of business themselves. Pau has traditionally done a good job on Duncan, so if he can play him to a standstill then our chances of winning are pretty damn high. I suppose that depends on which Pau shows up though. Fisher and Farmar are going to have to play well this time around, as those two completely stunk in the 1st meeting in SA.

2) Kobe's back spasms, which won't be an issue this time around. He needs to continue being a good little facilitator and getting everyone good shots, as well as scoring efficiently.

...

Now that we are back to our best offensive lineup, we should not have as many problems running our offense. We need to start showing that we can win on the road consistently and put the league on notice that we're the team to beat, otherwise we're going to be limping into the playoffs and no one is going to have an ounce of fear when they face us. Play hard and smart.

you forgot a really importnat reason #0 pau gasol didn't play. kobe did't have spasms until we lost momentum and control before that even happened. an unhealthy kobe and a missing pau was a bad combination against the spurs

Arash Markozi, espn web guy that reports for the LAL for the radio pregame show as an analyst, how old is he, he sounds like he's 12.

I'd much prefer our LAL real men of genious GM game thread analysis to a kid who has yet to reach puberty.

I hope this game isn't blacked out on ESPN, which would force me to listen to that assclown Sean Elliot.

Celtics beating the Nuggets right now. I hope they beat them for us.

edit - and the Celtics won. If they can do it you know the Lakers can do it.
