Haverford: Kobe Wants LeBron in NBA Finals

Post#1 » by Luffy » Tue Mar 23, 2010 10:47 pm

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/367860-kobe-wants-lebron-in-the-2010-nba-finals-eager-to-disprove-critics

haven't posted any interesting links in a while lately, i've been too busy with moving back from d.c. to my new job in la, and getting back settled. staying with family until i move into a friend's condo near staples center or an apartment in pasadena, whichever situation works out first.

saw this article today, thought it was an interesting read. i'm really glad i'll be back home in la for the playoffs for the first time in years. it's been real hard to get all the laker games in d.c.

Kobe could care less, the NBA tries to market this Lebron vs Kobe thing but I don't think Kobe pays to much mind to it he is just focused on one thing and thats championships, maybe when Kobe was younger he would care but he has matured and knows that he is contending for championships, let Lebron get the hype Kobe will glady collect those rings :D and bragging rights for us of course :D

Bleacher report is no more accurate than a post on RealGM.

That report was written by some dummy that is all over Kobe (though its nice to know some of those still exist, anything is better than adoring Lebron as if he is going to save the earth from ending). With that said there is no need for cockiness, Kobe is 31 pushing 32 while Lebron is 25. There is a good chance the Cavs can dethrone us in the finals this year. Remember 1991? Magic passed the torch to MJ, 2010 can be a form of De Ja Vu if we are blinded.

I think its more economics than anything thats pushing LeBron and the James Gang to face the Lakers in the finals. If not the CAVS then Celtics for sure, would be the next best thing financialy for both franchises and the NBA as a whole. Anything short of Lakers/Cavs or Lakers/Celtics may be a raitings failure for the NBA I think. I am glad that the Magic are becoming legit contenders and its great to see Jordan back in the NBA. All these things may bring better teams after the 2010 and 2011 free agent fiascos i.e. Knicks and Bulls. Which would mean the NBA probably wont have to lean on Kobe and Bron as much.

it's the bleacher report lol some fan wrote this. though i think kobe might want the cavs because they beat us twice this year, while clowning our front line and kobe always likes to play the best, but i think he could careless about lebron. imo lebron isn't even chasing kobe anymore,he is chasing wade. wade already has a ring, and lebron's hands are still missing one. he better hope he is not the last one out of himself, wade and melo. kobe on the other hand is looking at joining the conversation with guys like bird, magic, kareem, jordan.

This could very well be the passing of the torch. I remember how much I hated basketball in the 90's after the Lakers fell off (Magic's retirement being the main reason) and having to endure Jordan and the Bulls winning year after year.

i don't think so semi. there are so big differences in those situations is that we have the younger core to contend longer. shaq while playing great is on his last legs,so are big z and jamison. meanwhile we have a 31 year old kobe. a 30 year old pau,a 30 year old odom. a young bynum,dj,brown and farmar. as long as kobe and pau can stay healthy this team will contend for atleast three more years.

I don't see Kobe passing the torch to anyone anytime soon. I do see the race is between Mello, Bosh, LeBron, all trying to catch Wade. Lets not forget Roy, Durant, DIrk, and Howard could sneak in and get one in the next couple of years before LeBron gets another finals visit.

True, but there's no telling what could happen in the off-season. LeBron could very well team up with Bosh or Amare and that'll be all she wrote -- assuming a halfway competent GM is involved and puts in the remaining decent pieces.

Of course that won't happen in Cleveland since the Cavs are trying to win now for the sake of keeping LeBron there (and IMO they WILL win this year), but then the Cavs are pretty damn good even without Shaq or Igs as evidenced by their 13-2 record without either of them lineup so it's not like they need that much of a replacement outside of a big body to contain Howard and Bynum.

I think Kobe really could careless who he plays. He just wants to win a title, but deep down I think he want Lebron and Shaq since they are the big dogs of the NBA right now, but I have a funny feeling that Orlando is going to beat them in the finals again.

BUT

How about we get to the finals first before we start picking who we want to play.

Kobe wants the Celtics
for the all revenge bracket

Spurs 2003 broke up the 4 peat
Suns 2006, 2007
Nuggets ish talkers
Celtics 2008

LeBron actually worries Kobe according to Jamie Foxx. The Lakers now know how to beat the Celts. Would have been different if we had Drew that year maybe but we lost softies. We win when we are tuff. Its on in 2 weeks. GO LAKERS
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!
