Flynn vs Realistic Expectations

Sven Cobum wrote: .... As his rookie season winds down, it seems that the lofty expectations of Jonny Flynn have proven out of reach. Were those expectations fair to begin with? After all, this is a team with a new GM and a new coach. The roster has a host of new players, and many players that won't be on the team next season. Many of the carryover players such as Al Jefferson, Kevin Love and Corey Brewer are still working to re-establish their game after injuries. Whenever a rookie is drawing comparisons to Chris Paul - a first team All-NBA player - before he even plays a game, you have to assume that's inevitably going to lead to some frustration.

Nonetheless, while Flynn has had his share of disappointment, he has also shown some promising signs to look forward to. His long range shooting seems more reliable than advertised. His optimism seems unbreakable. He's never going to allow himself to be discouraged for long. This may prove to be his most valuable trait of all. They say losing breeds a culture of losing and that can infect a franchise. Yet even as the last month of the season looms where the Timberwolves have posted the second worst record in the NBA, you still see a smile on the face of Jonny Flynn. It's the smile of a man that knows his NBA battle has only just begun, and as a Timberwolves fan, it's encouraging to know that there's at least one guy that can be knocked down, pounded and bruised, but never defeated.

Two guys, Corey Brewer. As I have said before. A positive attitude can take you so much farther than a negative one.

Brewer doesn't get knocked down, he does the knocking down. Puts little guys on their asses and brings 7 footers to their knees.

Are you saying this writer would be better off working in a shoe store?

It's pretty much Starbury shoe quality, probably put together in child labor sweatshops.
