Revisiting the 2010 & 2011 free agency

Two players I want to give a look at Anthony Morrow (24) this offseason and Reggie Williams (23) in 2011. Both play for the Warriors if you didn't already know.

Morrow in 30.2 MPG (58 games)
12.8 PPG 3.7 RPG 1.6 APG 1.0 SPG
.470 FG% .455 3PT%

Williams in 24.8 MPG (12 games)
14.2 PPG 3.6 RPG 2.3 APG .58 SPG
.543 FG% .475 3P%

Morrow Per 36
15.3 PPG 4.4 RPG 1.9 APG 1.2 SPG

Williams Per 36
20.5 PPG 5.2 RPG 3.3 APG 0.8 SPG

Now I know what you’re thinking. A Warriors guard who can score 14 PPG? What's so impressive about that? But the shooting percentages alone should be a good enough reason to consider these guys. Remember, our opponents frequently prevent the Wolves from scoring by loading the paint with defenders thanks to our front court and Flynn’s penetration (that’s what she said). Look at Morrow and Williams. These guys are not only accurate 3 point shooters, they also take a high volume of 3 point shots too. Morrow ranks 6th in 3 point field goals per 48 (not sure where Williams ranks, but it’s better). Furthermore, Morrow ranks 4th in 3P% while Williams would be almost tied for second if he qualified which of course would bump Morrow to 5th. The Warriors quite frankly have a lot of money tied up. Would they match any offer for Morrow if they got still got Williams? I doubt it and it would be worth watching this summer.

I also gave a look at Korver too. On one hand he’s 29, on the other hand he leads the NBA in 3P% and takes a very good number of shots. I think he could be on his way out of Utah since they are going to want to resign Boozer. But the truth is I'm looking for a younger guy because I'm looking for a young guy to pair with Rubio in 2011 (or 2012).

I don't know if we have to revisit, since we practically live here, but I wouldn't mind signing Morrow for a reasonable cost.

There are actually quite a few options many teams have this offseason. I think that if MN doesn't get a big fish, and we have to settle for some guppies, Morrow would be a nice addition. The qualities I'm looking for are 3 point shooting, defense, BBIQ, and getting to the line. There are many players that are capable of this, but I mostly want to wait and see what happens up until the draft before I pick favorites, as my picks will probably change depending on this teams needs. I do think Travis Outlaw is a big, fast, athletic, decent shooting, smart enough option. In reality, with the system Rambis has in place combined with my interpritation of Kahns vision, we will not be able to make an impact until we get an explosive scorer at a wing position and decent smart defenders everyhere. We will probably have an extremely different roster next year if the vision stays the same.

I know Morrows numbers are nice but I am telling you, he's on the warriors, it helps a lot. Being in the right system can mean a lot in the NBA. With how they play and what he has done, his confidence is soaring. Over here things wouldn't be so peachy and he would probably lose confidence and those percentages would drop. Wayne on the Warriors would be scoring 12 PPG too.

Morrow isn't much more then just a standstill shooter...I like Wayne alot better. Plus Morrow is already 24 years old and isn't looking like he's going to improve much more. I guess I'd rather just have us draft a young wing like Xavier Henry or Turner(hell both) and be set there and then idk what we'd do with our capspace.

agreed, i morrow or less would prefer to stick with Wayne

It doesn't have to just be about 2010 (or Morrow for that matter).

2010 Restricted: Josh Childress, Tyrus Thomas, Anthony Morrow, Rudy Gay
2010 Unrestricted: Mike Miller
2011 Restricted: Al Horford, Reggie Williams, Joakim Noah
2011 Unrestricted: Kendrick Perkins, Delonte West, Kelenna Azubuike, LRMAM

I don't want to really spend a whole lot in 2010 because I want a better draft pick in 2011. That's when Rubio is supposed to come, but who knows what he's doing. My only fear is that he will hop on over in 2012 and not be tied to the rookie contract, so how could we sign him. I'm just looking at my list, and nothing really seems that appealing. I still want to focus on the 2011 draft.

If we could get J Chill & Noah that would be awesome. Add in one of Wall or Barnes and our plan of world domination would be set.

That team is yucky, and for some reason I'd like to stay away from the name CHILDRESS when it comes to MN sports.
