Corbin: Hot Coaching Candidate

Post#1 » by JustAwesome » Thu Mar 25, 2010 4:01 am

Just read an article about Utah Jazz assistant coach Tyrone Corbin being a possible hot head coaching candidate for next season. The guy has been learning under Jerry Sloan for six years, which means that he knows quite a bit more about the game now than when he unlaced his shoes for the final time.

Your thoughts?

He's going to find a head coaching gig eventually.

Do you guys think Thurl Bailey will get into coaching? He could possibly replace him

Hope Ty is the successor to Sloan but like the article says he will be a hot candidate this Summer.

6 years as a back up to Phil and Jerry and suddenly he is a great head coach canidate? No wonder why coaching turnover is so high.

Im wondering if Horny might replace Sloan. I know he hangs out in PHX alot, but the other night against the Suns he kept talking about the Jazz coaching staff as "we", implying that he is working with players, development, etc. I know he's been helping AK specifically off and on. Horny has also expressed interest in HC openings, like the one in Boston before Doc. Do you guys think he'd be a good coach?

PS, Ty would be great by the way. I always liked him as a player...

He works with the team every time they are in SLC. He just does not travel with the team. And he has been working with a lot more than AK the last 2 years.

The way I understand it, Ty is the big man coach. He works with our big players. I think if he leaves the Jazz will want another coach more familiar with the big man plays and improving our PF and Centers.
