Re: Dray Live On Mike Wise Right Now
Someone mentioned a couple weeks back that they thought Flip might actively be trying to get fired. I agreed in the sense that the way he was acting made it seem like that might be the case, but I didn't think it actually was. After reading more about this situation though, now I'm not so sure that that really isn't his goal. I mean, it's like he's trying to put a rift between himself and his best/most valuable players. With McGee, there was a small sliver of a chance that you could agree with Flip, or at least understand his point of view. With Blatche though, we're talking about far and away our best player, a legit all-star since the break, still just 23, on an uber-cheap contract. Flip has to know that if he starts a rift there, makes the team choose, he's going to be the goner.

1. Players acting like jerks, ignoring authority or breaking rules happens ALL THE TIME.
2. Misunderstandings & miscommunications happen ALL THE TIME.
3. But, rarely does it get into the public, with the coach saying his player "quit" and he's "never seen anything like it before".
This had no business being in the press! This is something you handle behind closed doors.
FLIP SHOULD HAVE HANDLED THIS INTERNALLY
Originally I thought it was mostly on Blatche. The original issue is Blatche not listening to the coach, however Flip made the situation far worse than it had to be. The biggest problem is making something that should have been resolved internally a public matter.
I think Blatche and Flip but heads because they both are hot tempered, stubborn and not the best communicators. Even if flip can handle the X and Os for developing the bigs, it might not be a bad idea to bring in a big man coach to motivate and encourage the young bigs.
