Josh Smith dunk....

Post#1 » by ATL DirtyBird » Thu Mar 25, 2010 9:34 pm

Last night's game winner is getting LeBron type recognition. There discussing on Pardon the Interruption, Around the Horn, SportsCenter, and NBA TV.

WTF is happening? Was the play that amazing? Or was it the circumstances that made it so nice?
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

It was the timing and circumstances that garner all the extra attention. A follow slam at the buzzer is quite rare. Add in that it was 2 playoff teams, that Orlando has dominated Atlanta for the last 2 years, and that it clinched the playoff spot (although that was a formality). Having said all that he did get up really high on the play so it wasn't just an average dunk.
Going to donkey punch a leprechaun!

I was actually more shocked just because its the Hawks. We are nto supposed to get national attention. I just thought it was amazing.

First time we have gotten legitimate attention since Josh tried that through the leg dunk last year.

-It was the play that clinched the playoff berth
-It was a gamer winner as the time expires
-It was a sick dunk in itself
-It was a division game with another elite team
-It was the only game that went to the wire
-Also, JJ may have traveled when looking at slow-mo replay... but ref wouldn't have blown that whistle anyway. Still, that's something to talk about.

It was also the night before the NCAA tournament started back up so there wasn't much competition. Incredible, heady play by Smoove.
