Tyreke Evans injury watch

Post#1 » by RIPskaterdude » Sat Mar 20, 2010 7:00 pm

Tyreke Evans was scheduled to have another X-ray at 9 a.m. to determine if he has a fractured jaw as a result of last night's injury in the Kings' loss to Milwaukee.

We do know Evans has a concussion, lacerated gums and a chipped tooth from the elbow he absorbed and subsequent fall to the court.

Evans will not travel with the Kings to Los Angeles for Sunday's game against the Clippers.

No word yet....

Sacramento....time to

Should have Tyreke update soon. Flight leaves in about 30 min for L.A. That would be only delay in news

Xray/cat scan on Tyreke negative. Has a slight concussion, will be reevaluated Monday. Won't play tomorrow at L.A. Clippers

Final update....

SACRAMENTO (NBA.com exclusive) -- X-rays on Saturday revealed that Tyreke Evans suffered only a bruised jaw line and will miss at least one week of action, according to a text message from his brother.

The fear was that the rookie may have missed the remainder of the season had the X-ray revealed any type of break. Evans also suffered a concussion, a lacerated, bruised lip and two cracked teeth.

Evans suffered the injury late in Friday night's game versus the Milwaukee Bucks when Ersan Ilyasova's elbow inadvertently hit Evans in the mouth while clearing space after a rebound.

Evans hit the ground where he remained for a moment before leaving for the locker room with a bloody mouth. Evans will not travel with the team to Los Angeles for Sunday's afternoon matchup against the Clippers.

Evans, a frontrunner for the league's Rookie Of The Year Award, is averaging 20.3 points, 5.6 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game in his rookie season.

The 20-year-old has missed five games this season with injury, four with a bad right ankle and one with a minor hip injury.

Not to troll, just wanted to say I'm glad Evans didn't break anything. I think he is going to win the ROY and it would've sucked for him to be out for any period of time. Good luck the rest of the way.

This will be a good opportunity for Evans to keep his stats and rest up his bum ankle some more. Honestly I hope they keep him out just a tad longer than he should. He did have a concussion after all.

I kinda agree. People usually fully recover from concussions, but not in a week. It usually takes a few weeks I think. I hope Tyreke takes it an easy.

Ugh...

BOSTON - Kings guard Tyreke Evans (concussion) will miss the next two games after feeling dizzy during today's practice.

Evans has missed the last three games after being elbowed in the mouth by Milwaukee forward Ersaon Ilyasova

I maintain what I said in the game thread, and I don't care if Bucks' fans' do not like it.

I have played basketball most of my nearly 40 years and the style in which Ilyasova was swinging his elbows on post-rebound clearouts was an intentional method used by undersized post players to injure and keep bigger guys backed off of them due to the threat of injury from the raised elbows wildly swinging. It is an older style used by traditional old time thugs in the NBA like Bill Laimbeer and Kevin McHale in times before they were fined post-game by the league for such methods. If you want to hold your space in that manner LEGITIMATELY, you keep your elbows down while shaking side to side so as not to injure the opponent. That was an intentional move done repeatedly throughout the game and I feel that the league should have stepped in to put a stop to it. Otherwise he will continue to do it until he causes an even more severe injury than what Tyreke endured.

I can assure you if it was Kobe or Wade, he would be sitting out the rest of the season and paying handsomely for the offense.
