Re: Am i the only one seeing Bosh in Houston?
If we do a deal with Houston, I want Brooks or at least Lowry coming back. Brooks is young, a good scorer, can involve his teammates and plays solid defense. Lowry on the other end is a very tough guy, great defender and can ne effective on offense too...
I don't want any part of Scola because he's too old and a frontcourt of Bargs/Scola would be even more horrible on defense than a Bosh/Bargs frontcourt...

It will be interesting to see how CB4 operates his offence with Yao clogging the lane. I'm sure Adelman will find a way. Only Raps' coaches couldn't do that with CB4 and JO.

Our wings and PG's really really really really sucked as well. It's not like Amir and Bosh can't co-exist..and Yao has a better jumper than Amir. It's more like, JO was playing one style and the rest of the team was playing another style. When we slowed the game down and played a gritty defensive game with ugly offense (due to JO), we usually won games.

Good call on Lowry. No chance on Brooks though I'd think.
I'd be more than fine dealing with Houston. A couple first picks, maybe a second, anyone of Lowry, Jeffries expiring, Hill, Battier. What's not to like about that. Houston retains their nucleus and Bosh gets his money on a traditional team close (but not too close) to home.

Exactly. I'm sure figuring out how to play Yao along side Bosh is a "problem" Adelman would love to have. Only concern is with Houston's recent luck, can a combo of Yao, Bosh, and Martin stay healthy? yikes.

Re: Am i the only one seeing Bosh in Houston?
adding Bosh to that team would make them really good
Brooks
Martin
Ariza
Bosh
Yao
But i'm pretty sure they would lose one of their starters if we pull off a sign and trade.

if the raptors can get Scola and Martin back for Bosh and filler it would be great for the team in many ways. there'd be no clear cut franchise player, bargnani might build some consistency because of that. how much better is bosh than scola ?

I am really not interested in using Bosh's value to move Turk. If a team wants him, even for a crap (but shorter) contract, fine, but why squander Bosh's limited trade value otherwise?
Turk is a big contract. So what? Losing teams in markets like Toronto will not attract A list free agents. We're actually better off, IMO, letting him play next season, without pressure, blowing up his numbers a bit, and looking to see if a contender values him at the next trade deadline. Otherwise, wait for the amnesty after the next CBA is signed and boot his ass out the door at that point.
It's not worth sacrificing picks or young talent just because you don't like his face.
If we're going to rebuild, then do it right. You're not going to make a contender by picking 8th in every draft. You need high-quality players that are usually hard to get beyond the first two or three picks.
The reason I mention Hedo specifically is that he's the one player who it is likely impossible to trade unless part of a bigger deal where we lose a desired player. Such as a Bosh S&T. Guys like Calderon and Bargnani should be much more easily movable on their own.

Houston is looking like a great fit.
It also nearly guarantees Bosh a starters spot on the Western All-star team! With the chinese vote, he'd probably surpass Duncan & Dirk.
If Bosh leaves and we truly plan on rebuilding, Houston is a great option. If we managed to get a guy like Battier or Chuck Hayes, they'd be great mentors defensively for some of our players. They've got some great pieces - I'd be happy having any of:
Lowry, Battier, Hayes, Hill, rights to Lull or any of their picks.

Yes, I do consider a few of their players to fall in that category. But my view is that they have valuable assets - extra picks, rights to unsigned players and expiring contracts.
I don't want Ariza or Martin or even Scola (Scola would be age thing only, not wanting to give another 30 year old a five year contract. Ariza is overrated, and I don't think he wants to be in the northeast at all. And Martin is only a concept for a team ready to contend and willing to overpay for what he brings.
No trade with any team will bring you 100% value for Bosh, and since we aren't a very good team with Bosh, it's hard to imagine any trade making us significantly better, and almost all of the ones likely to appear will leave us worse off.
However, a trade based on picks and expiring contracts provides a great deal of flexibility. It wouldn't rescue the coming season, but it would enable a lot of good things starting with the trade deadline in Feb 2011 and summer of 2011 to put things on a very good track. Above all, it would allow the team to rebuild in a coherent fashion, putting all five positions on the table and letting the team build not only talent through the draft, trades and free agency but to make sure the pieces fit well.
Instead of trying to placate Bosh - or Vince before him - by trying to plug in trades or free agent signings that weren't necessarily complementary (think not only Hedo, but Jalen Rose back in Vince's late stages here) but were the best available, we would be able to make trades, signings and draft players to fit a more or less blank slate. To me, this can be achieved even if Jose and Hedo can't be traded. We just have to be ready to move younger players in front of them. I don't consider Jose and Hedo to be locker room cancers, and Jose might even be a great help to a young point guard. (And yes, I'd trade Jack if we acquire a young point guard.)
My hope is that the S&T gives us some kind of head-start in the rebuilding process by acquiring a young player in the trade. Like Beasley from Miami or Green or Harden from OKC. I'm not sure if I'm being realistic here though.

Bosh gets his much needed media exposure better in the states
closer to home
I said the same thing on the Chicago Board months ago. I warned fellow Bulls fans to wake up to the fact that it is very unlikely to get Bosh.
Texas is Bosh's home state PLUS no state income tax in Texas. That will save him millions. Florida has none either. NY and Calif are the highest in nation. Illinois has reasonable tax rates but governor said he is raising them!

It would be good to get the draft picks, Battier and a trade exception which could be combined with the expiring contracts of Evans and Banks to grab a decent player either in the offseason or trade deadline.

I think I would consider San Antonio - rights to Tiago Splitter, Richard Jefferson and Roger Mason or Matt Bonner - seems to work - and if you can ensure Splitter would come to the NBA - you might be not bad off - Splitter, Bargnani, Turk, Jefferson, Calderon/Jack - might be a good base to build around

You can't combine a trade exception with expirings. You can combine all the expirings you like, which is why the Jeffries contract would be useful.

Blah! That's awful.
Splitter is a bit interesting but is a big cheese in Europe and he won't come here cheap. Jefferson sucks, Mason you can have for peanuts on the open market. Bonner is a nice complementary piece, but no more.
I really can't see the logic of such a trade. That's just moving around the deck chairs on a sinking ship.
Why wouldn't you at least want George Hill, one of the few young assets SAS has?
Whatever happens, however much or little we get for Bosh, it has to fit into some kind of concept to move the team forward over the next few years, not to try to hold on desperately, or probably futilely, to faint playoff hopes.

Yup I dont want Scola/Ariza/Martin on a Bosh-less team... on top of that Yao/Brooks is likely off-limits.
I'd start the package/offer at Battier + Jefferies + NY pick + 2 Houston Picks + youth (and we'll go from there)

i'd like to get ariza/martin/scola package just to see if the rest of the core (calderon, turkoglu, bargnani) can win without bosh. I'm certain replacing bosh with a couple talented pieces will result in at least just as many wins.
parker and splitter would be a great deal from san antonio.

since the team is stuck with turkoglu and bargnani for a while that would be a bad decision. scola and martin could be well worth it playing in the east. a couple low picks and end of the bench rotation players is not worth it at this point.

Re: Chris Bosh Sign and Trade Ideas
I actually don't think Bosh will go to Houston. Well, he might - but I don't know that, and you don't know that, only he does. But this is all a guessing game, so let me offer a scenario as to why he may not choose Houston.
First, I want to say that people have to look at this from Bosh's perspective (again not in a literal sense, we don't know what he's thinking) rather than the RAPTORS perspective. I mean, it's obvious that the Rockets can yield us the best return in S&T aside from possibly the Lakers with Bynum.
I'll start off by saying, I'm not too sure that Bosh wants to play alongside another offensive C in Yao Ming. It stands to reason that Rick Adelman will figure out a way to make it work, but it's like, is the ball big enough to feed Yao and Bosh considering that both are effective when they get touches - unless Yao becomes a role-playing defensive C, or Vlade Divac/Sabonis. Can Bosh look at it this way?
And then, the whole Bosh would love to play closer to home - wait a sec., isn't this the same guy who turned down Rick Barnes' recruiting pitch for Univ. of Texas...to play at Georgia Tech? Plus, he has always said that he loves Toronto - that it's his second home away from home. If he goes to Texas, I would think it would be to play in Dallas, not Houston.
And why wouldn't Bosh want to play in Chicago? They've got a premier PG, a C who plays defence and doesn't need touches, and the city is one of the best in the U.S. Plus, Bosh's agent is Chicago-based, so maybe he'll put in a word for Chicago.
Again, it's all a guessing game at this point, but Chicago's a contender just as much as Houston.
