Years, not money is the deciding factor here.

Florida has no state tax. They've got money to spend as well.

Packing up and leaving is part of the business, Amare knows that.

But Federal taxes still applies. Most states have low income taxes anyway.

Packing up and leaving is part of the game when a player is "motivated" to do so. In Amare's case there is no motivation or positive purpose to do such a thing.

Every move Amare's up to this point suggests that he wants to test the market and has probably been mentally prepared for a move. If Amare is so motivated to stay in Phoenix, he would be extended right now. I understand he has given the Suns something like a home town discount by going down to $14m/4yrs and the Suns declined and countered with $14m/2yrs. It's more than just about what Amare wants, it's also what our FO wants.

The way I see it, the situation has gotten to the point where the Suns will have to up their offer to one that is just under Amare's market price, if we want him to stay and I don't think they are willing to. I'm not doubting that Amare wants to stay but he also knows there's likely more and better opportunities our there. There's just no reason for Amare to stay if he doesn't feel the Suns are committed to keeping him especially when there's teams out there willing to match or go above his asking price.

There's no question that he's comfortable in Phoenix but he understands its part of the game. The only difference is that he has a little more control this time than when the Suns put him on the block. There's just no reason not for him to test the waters.

I'm getting more expensive by the game," he said this week.

"It has nothing to do with the trades, trade talk or rumors. Around that time is when I stepped my game up, but it has nothing to do with that at all."

toudemire is currently ranked 21st in season FIC, meaning he 'deserves' to make $15.85M for the 2009-10 season.

*rolls eyes

THIS is why I don't want Amare. He's a good player, but he plays when he want's to get paid, and he'll even tell you about it. Ugh..

Amare doesn't "play when he wants to get paid" at all. Anybody who paid attention to his career knows that he always steps it up in the 2nd half of the season, specially when he's recovering from an injury.

If he walks then it's 100% management's fault for being cheap again and not accepting to offer him a reasonable extension when they could have.

And yeah, rgm wiretap is a joke

Can't deny he says some incredibly stupid things that harm the organization and our ability to handle his situation though. I agree with WTF here, it really doesn't help either sides with his comments about getting more expensive by the game.

It's only truth. I bet Kerr and Sarver told Amare in that past-deadline dinner, "Go out there and work on your game, you'll get well compensated!" Just like what they told JJ. Well, then they mishandled the negotiation with JJ completely. But I believe Kerr was upfront and honest with Amare. So, he is still ours to lose, I believe.
