I have been going to Ryerson for 3 years full time, and I have seen nothing. Not even Triano. People say they see Triano at union a lot, but I go to union everyday and I've never seen him. I have seen the pope, but I would trade that in to see Rasho.

actually, i know a few people who've played ball with NBA players at regular gyms.

a friend of mine used to live in LA. he would play pickup ball with Lue when Lue used to play in LA.

another "hot spot" in toronto is the Bloor JCC (Spadina and Bloor). 5 years ago, some NBA players would doing shootarounds in the middle of the day (i cannot remember who the hell they were...i wasn't there but i was told about it by the day manager). and the Beastie Boys also called to book/rent out the gym before one of their toronto shows (but they pulled out in the end).

Your story is a bust.

:-?
I'm just some random uni kid, what does he care? Also I don't think they are close friends or anything, being teammates doesn't mean you have to be best friends.

Look at where he was drafted, I don't disagree but at that spot you are hoping for more then a 3rd big.

I dunno what you're talking about, 13th is not high, especially for big men. A 25 MPG guy(maybe even a starter) who can crash the offensive glass and draw fouls while playing solid defence is not bad at all for a 13th pick. You can't forge about intangibles either, he's a smart kid that plays extremely hard and has leadership qualities. I dunno about you but i'll take a guy like that on my team any day of the week

Look at who was on the board when they were picking, they needed a PG, Lawson or Holiday would have been a better pick there. I'm not even talking about hind-site, at the time many where wondering if Hansborough would drop to the late 1st/early 2nd part of the draft. 36% from the floor, not very athletic, and he isn't exactly a project.

Well, we'll just agree to disagree. If i was Larry Bird, i wouldn't regret the pick too much, they needed a future PF just as badly as a PG.

Ask yourself then, is Hansborough as good a prospect at PF as Lawson or Holiday were as PG's? I get there is a premium on big's but still. Time will tell which one of us is right, agree to disagree.

He might not be but that doesn't you mean you regret the pick. The draft is such a crap shoot that you can't worry too much if some other team got a slightly better player after you as long as you don't completely **** up the pick yourself like Hoffa. Just because you don't pick the best player at that position doesn't make the pick itself a bust, people just use that word way too much and it loses its meaning when you use it to describe guys like Hoffa, Kwame and Darko

BlackIce wrote:He was at the YMCA, with an assistant coach (maybe trainer?), and some other guy. He's amazing and it was a really cool experience, he killed me of course. So quick, and strong. The assistant coach was this white guy, about 50, and he was amazing. So fundamentally sound, he was schooling Lawson on a few plays. They were doing drills and played a few games against the guys there. I figured since I frequent this site I would share, he gave some guy court-side seats to the game against the Raps as well which was nice.

I told him I watched him, Ellington, and Handsbrough at NC and even though I'm a Ohio State fan, I couldn't help rooting for them. I also told him I think Handsbrough is going to be a bust and got drafted way to high. He laughed and said that he agreed with me. The assistant soach said that a rebounder, and high energy, unselfish player like that will always find a way to help a team. Lawson laughed and said "unselfish"??

something like that really puts things in perspective. we as fans say this guy sucks, he can't shoot, or he's just a bench warmer. but the amount of talent you need to be a bench warmer in the nba is quite high compared to a average joe.
