Great Start To The 5 Game Roadie
Great start to the tough 5 game road trip. The Lakers needed to set the tone tonight in San Antonio and did just that in the 2nd half. Lamar Odom showed up big time, Pau played great defensively against Duncan, Ron Artest made life a living hell for the Spurs perimeter players, and Kobe once again showed why he's the best closer in the business. Seven in a row and counting...

yeap great start
gotta give credit to brown and farmar too...they stepped up
when bynum got injured it weakened the bench, so they have to kick it up to another level now. the starting 5 would be fine with odom coming in. our bench looks like cr4p now. ..good thing they showed up in the spurs game

WTF??? 75 points, are u kidding me? No shame in losing on the road against a good OKC team but the effort tonight was absolutely putrid! I was expecting to see the Lakers build some momentum against top-notch competition on this road trip. I guess it still can happen with 3 games remaining, but my confidence is a little shaken at this point.

Yeah that's the thing about this Lakers team that I think is a big difference from last season...
Just when you think they're building some momentum/confidence and that they might start finally playing up to their expectations, they have a game or 2 like this.
I really don't know what to expect anymore. We're making it to the playoffs no question, but this year I don't feel the luxury of looking past anyone.
Last year I fully expected us to beat everyone we faced in the playoffs including Orlando. This year I'm not so sure.

you know, in regards to last years squad, they had some pretty large doubt hanging over them at this point in the season. it really wasnt that much different than now. the one thing about 09 was they had a smidge more of an offensive identity than currently.
it seems that the lakers, regardless of roster/coach throughout the years are a lttle bit this way, they like to call into doubt they level of play. phil/kobe teams even more so.

Last year's team did have their share of doubts along the way, but they always seemed to step up in big moments during both the regular season and the playoffs. This year's team hasn't really done that to this point which is suprising because I thought Ron Artest would make this team that much tougher when the chips are down. I guess all the matters now is how they respond in the playoffs.
