This has been a trade that has been discussed a lot here and on the trade board.
I think its definitely something both teams would consider.

I'm a little less inclined to do this deal than I was about a month ago.

I don't get it. Why does Detroit want Big Al so much? I could understand a team like Indiana or Sacramento who are one Big Al away from being awesome. It's not that the value isn't fair, it's just why Detroit of all teams?

Because they lack a low post presence....

Yeah, what do you mean? They have a big hole in their frontcourt. Jefferson would fit well there.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Re: Tayshaun Prince and lottery pick for jefferson?
This is a team that has only won 23 games so far, and Hamilton's age isn't helping. By 2012/13 they would have $53 million tied up to Maxwell, Hamilton, Gordon, Jefferson, and Villanueva. That's just 5 players. Then they have to resign (granted they keep them) Bynum, Daye, Stuckey, and Jerebko. Then add the fact that Ben Wallace will be 36 old free agent at the start of next season. There's going to be a huge hole at center and of course they're replacing a #5 pick and Prince for Big Al. That's hardly even a playoff team much less a Finals threat.
However I do believe that the value is 100% fair. If Detroit fans want it than I'll hop on board.

Re: Tayshaun Prince and lottery pick for jefferson?
I'm no expert on Detroit, but to me they look like a team absolutely full of jump shooter. They need the inside half of the inside-outside game badly. On top of that, they have a ton of money tied up into a few older (but not that old) players for a long time, so they can't really afford to go into a full rebuild or take time developing a young guy.
As for the proposed trade, I would absolutely love it. If we could make that trade and then move up for Favors (or draft him straight up if he's there), then draft day 2010 would be a huge success for me regardless of what happens with our pick.

I think Indiana is even a poor fit for Jefferson. With McRoberts, Jones, Murphy, Hansbrough, Foster, Hibbert + Jefferson, the Pacers are either forced to make another trade to end the logjam they now created in hopes to fill the new Granger void, or live with the same problem Minnesota has right now where your 2 best bigs are PF's and you are looking to fit in a guy with defensive potential. (Murphy and Love are rather similar, ranged bigmen who rebound well and pass well, only Murphy gets paid over twice as much)
Are the Pistons with Jefferson that bad? that looks like a team that can score in a lot of ways on just about anyone, almost a PHO of the east. Stucky, Gordon, Hamilton, CharlieV, Jefferson with Bynum, Daye, Jerebko, Maxiel off the bench.

I thought we were talking Al for Indiana's pick, not Al for Granger.
