OT: John Wall
Since he'll be the #1 pick i thought it deserved it's own thread... Anyway, he has tremendous potential but i'm not believing all the hype. He's turnover prone, lazy defensively and has no perimeter jump-shot. It's not wise to go against a Calipari PG (Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans) but i thought they were more mature in their college careers. If he went to a school like Duke and played under a superior coach like Coach K i thought he would've benefited from a more conservative system. Whatcha guys think? Should the Nets (or whoever gets #1) take Wall easily or go with someone less risky...?

I like Wall, I think he's the best prospect since Lebron anyway. I think he has the potential to be a top 5 NBA player if he reaches his potential. Didn't a college coach also say he's the #1 PG prospect since Jason Kidd?

Re: OT: John Wall
Well he's def the most hyped player in years. But that doesn't mean he'll be a star. Whatever happened to Dejuan Wagner? Don't get me wrong he'll be good but D-Rose and Tyreke are already stars.

Re: OT: John Wall
I really like Wall as a player. However, I have so far not been all that impressed with Rose's development despite the hype surrounding him. Not that Rose isn't good right now, but it just taught me not to always believe the hype and I have that same mentality with Wall. Unlike a certain individual on this board who's ready to crown a certain HS PF a future HOF'er already.
Wall doesn't have the same level of natural passing abilities of Kidd or Nash but he could still very well be an 8apg-10apg player while dropping 20ppg-25ppg. I could definitely see him more as a Devin Harris type of PG but a better leader, clutch performer and passer. His athleticism is off the charts and it's what makes PG's like Rose so exciting to watch. He's also a better defender than Rose at college level and he's been known for his commitment on defense since HS.
Also I have no doubt Wall is going to go #1 in the draft. No doubt at all. Just based on pure talent and potential alone, he's a no-brainer for going number 1 even if he doesn't fit the team's needs. Lottery teams with established PG's are expected to either trade down in the draft or move their starting PG for Wall, so there's little chance Wall doesn't go #1.
I really hopehe lives up to the hype because if he does, he could very well be the most exciting player to be drafted since Lebron James in 03.

I've been underwhelmed with Wall, as well. He doesn't seem to excel in any one area. He doesn't overwhelm in points, he's doesn't rack up a whole lot of assists (and when he does, he often racks up a bunch of turnovers as well). He's very athletic, I guess, but unimpressed with him as a point guard.

Re: OT: John Wall
next kobe.
So Mary, where does that put your boy Ellis? I thought he was a top 5 nba player?
Wall is a very good player. I do not think he is the best player or most talented as we speak. But I think he has the most potential out of any college player that will enter the draft. He has a lot of the skills to be a top PG. He does not quite have the size of Jkidd or D-will. He is not as fast as rose or paul. I actually do not think he will be as good as some of these guys. I think Rondo, Curry, and even Jennings might be on the same level or better than him "potential wise". I think he has a talent to be a top 5 nba pg in this league, but his attitude and from what I have seen, I dont see that as of yet. His maturity is not even close to any of these guys that are young stud pgs. That worries me as of now, but he is still a kid.
Now if I was the nets, this is not an easy decision to make. I think it is between Turner and Wall IF they do get the #1 pick. And we have seen as of late how many times the worst team gets the #1 pick.
Turner is not a PG, but is good enough to play one. He is big at 6-7 and do a lot. He reminds me of Brandon will a better ability to get to the basket. He can pass, rebound, play D and is a hard worker. The negatives are that he did have a bad injury to his back. Back injuries are never good in this league. His outside shot is ok as of now and he does turn the ball over a lot. But he was playing out of position.
Wall is young and PG. Im not sure if he is a true pg and is more of the scoring pg that is the norm today. He can make some nice passes, but Im not sure as of now if he is a smart player because he had so much other talent around him. His shot is ok and if I needed a PG, I would go with him hands down.
So for the nets, you have to look at what you need and what is the best player possible in the long run. You do have harris that is a decent PG, and B.Lopez that is a very good big. If you want Wall more and think he is better, find a deal to send harris away. If you like harris and think Turner is going to be a better player and make this team better, than go with Turner.
As of now, I lean towards turner as more of a complete player that wins you games and possible championships. Pgs rarely do.

Re: OT: John Wall
Evan Turner is by far the best player in college basketball this season. Wall will go first because he is all the hype and whoever gets the 1st pick in the draft will get reamed if they dont pick Wall. Turner is a shorter version of Marion and Artest but with a MUCH better shooting stroke. He will be defensive player of the year sometime in his NBA career, maybe more than once.

Re: OT: John Wall
I went out of my way to watch some Kentucky games because of the hype about Wall - he looks like he can be a very good player, impressed with his clutch play but all in all I have to go with Turner - bigger, better defensively, an score, good IQ and just all-round seems like a solid, solid player who can really contribute.

Re: OT: John Wall
Wall will be much better pro than Turner.
Turner isn't a shorter version of M<arion or Artest. LOL..
He'll never be DPOY and most importantly athleticism is the biggest concern with Turner and how it will translate to the pros.
Wall was impressive last night. Kentucky just couldn't throw it into the ocean from behind the line. He had a few bad play defensively but he also had some really outstanding defensive plays.
