The most awesome thing about this is that apparently Ted thinks exactly the same and has the same plans as so many of the people on this board!

Finally, that team has solid ownership.

Bring on Chris Bosh.

Say, word! I'll be ecstatic to hear that Ted has kicked every one of those quacks to the curb. Hey Ted: throw some money at that shaman in Phoenix or the faith healer in Detroit.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Hey Wiz fans,

What do you think the chances are that the team's name, logo, and colors are changed now?

"Wizards" has got to go. Should've never been changed to that.

BULLETS, with the reaching arms logo, and the red, white, and blue needs to come back.

Jersey's should be closer to the Unseld era striped throwback than the Pervis Ellison era.

Thoughts?

The name isn't going to change, but I really do hope that the change the colors back.

I think Ted's gonna keep everything in tact and re-evaluate in a year. We fire another coach, who Ted is going to have to pay. On top of that, finding another coach who won't come cheap? Yeah, right.

He did the same thing with McPhee. People thought he was going to fire him, and he's still the General Manager. The only thing I will change is the medical staff, and maybe renovate the locker rooms to make it more classier. I think I read once, there's a PS 3 in every Maverick's locker.

On-balance, McPhee didn't deserve to be fired, not the same case with Ernie. I'd be very surprised if Ernie held-on to his job.

Just a thought before we run off changing the uniform colors back to mostly red with white and blue--that would make us the third team in DC with those colors, after the Caps and Nats. Is that the best fashion/marketing strategy?

Maybe keep the blue-and-bronze, but fix the font, the logo and maybe change the name back.

How about the old-school Bullets double-l hands lettering in blue across a bronze jersey?

If EG wasn't involved in the NBA, he'd be a great used car salesman...

AP Story
Although Grunfeld was confident Arenas will be with the Wizards next season, there is some question whether Grunfeld will remain. Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis is expected to finalize a purchase of the team soon, and Grunfeld was asked if he expects Leonsis to keep him on in his current capacity.

“I think I’m pretty good at what I do. I have a pretty good track record at what I do, and we’ll see when new ownership takes over what happens,” Grunfeld said. “If you look at what I’ve done here and the other places I’ve been, I’ve rebuilt several teams many times over. It’s a good challenge, and I’m looking forward to it.”

Personally, I would think a slice of humble pie would be in order for a man that just dismantled a train-wreck of a team that he himself created. But nope, that's not how EG rolls.

i have a feeling that EG gets one more season to see what he does with the lotto pick and free agency. i think it was obvious that leonis wanted to clean house, and EG was only too quick to appease the new majority owner. either signing a stud FA or nabbing someone clutch with the CLE pick will probably EG's one shot at remaining GM of the 'zards.

That would be a HUGE mistake in my opinion. This is a pivotal off-season, you can't just let EG have one more year to potential overspend for a marginal FA or waste yet another draft. If you let EG take the reigns this off-season, you are pretty much stuck with those decisions for years to come.

The one strong plus for EG is his track record with 2nd round picks and the Wizards basically have 2 of them, plus Ted will probably be willing to buy 1 or 2 more if intriguing players are available.

He has drafted pretty poorly in the mid-1st round(Haislip, Nick Young, OPech). The only high pick he actually used was an number 8 on TJ Ford. It is injuries not a lack of ability that derailed Ford's path to stardom. Party John was the only real miss among his late 1st or 2nd round picks.
