Best Open Court Finishers In The NBA

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Mon Mar 29, 2010 1:52 am

Bonnell feels that Crash is top 5 in the NBA today to finish on the break.

A) = Do you agree?

B) = Who are your top 5?

I'm not saying Wallace is the best open-court finisher in the NBA, but I'd challenge you to find five guys better at it than him.

Yep, he is in top 5.
And my top 5 would go something like this (in random order) :

Gerald Wallace
LeBron James
Andre Iguodala
Josh Smith
Dwyane Wade

i don't think so

I don't know what are the criterias but if we consider FG% of open court finish J-Rich for exampkle is out of question.

Surprised there is no love for Tyreke Evans. That kid is a nightmare to try and guard when he is on the break with his ability to change direction.

In no order, mine are:

LBJ
Kobe
Paul
Evans
Wade
Crash

And as of next season I'm expecting to add John Wall to the list.

I think if you factor in his ability to turn his boards into breaks(which I have not seen anyone else do on a regular basis) with his hustle, speed athleticism and length. Hes at least top 3 with LBJ and DWade, maybe tops.

My list is more in line with yours slam and I'd definitely have Evans in there. I don't see Smith and Amare because they are straight finishers. I believe Ricks intention was to only include guys bringing the ball down court on their own and finishing.

It depends how you set-up the questions...

If we are talking about one guy with the ball running up court with a single defender in front of him than we really shouldn't consider guys like Amare or Josh Smith who dont have handles and would be in danger of getting a charge in that situation.

Stats and eyes say Bron Bron without hesitation. When he is moving at full speed... what, you gonna get in the way? Barkley-eque power to the rim, with more power. That's scary.

That said, GWall is damn good when the defense is 90% set but not quite there. Knife through butter and all that.

Josh Smith is great at receiving passes and finishing but he isn't great at taking it for himself.

Whoa, wait a minute here, Josh Smith isn't a great dribbler but he isn't terrible either. He does a decent job at times of handling the rock to my surprise but needs to limit them.
