With all comp FAs spoken for, draft order now settled

Post#1 » by Schad » Mon Mar 29, 2010 7:42 pm

River Avenue Blues (a Yankees blog) pieced together the draft order now that all of the comp-level players have signed, and our picks in the top three rounds are:

#11 - our first rounder this year. Damned tiebreakers.
#34 - for Scutaro.
#38 - for failing to sign Paxton.
#41 - for Barajas.
#61 - second rounder this year.
#69 - for failing to sign Eliopolous.
#80 - for Scutaro; had they not signed Lackey, it would be #29.
#93 - second rounder this year.
#113 - failing to sign Barrett.

Recent sandwich 1sts include Mike Montgomery, Julio Borbon, Joba Chamberlain, Clay Buchholz, Huston Street, and plenty of middling prospects and busts. By the odds, we should get one very good player, likely one or two above-average players, and a couple more eventual useful hands out of that crop, or AA's voodoo could turn it in to the entire starting lineup of the 2014 All-Star Game.

Thankyou.

Definitely geared up for the draft this year and our good position.

Lackey really screwed us - kinda ridiculous how our fortunes can turn on the whim of others...

welcome to the official draft Zac Cox thread :)
1) great baseball name
2) solid D at 3rd
3) decent bat
I know AA wanted to try for high potential HS kids but looking at the draft this guy has the most potential around where were going to be drafting, hes a senior in collage so were looking at 2-4 years development rather than 4-6 years and he can play both second and third two positions this organization is desperately weak in (Hill excluded) even if this guys potential with the bat is only around a 6th or 7th spot i would be happy considering we have JP, Wallace, Snider, and Lind all locked up for a while.

All this thread has accomplished is making me angry all over again that the team didn't sign its all of its draft picks last year. Thanks a lot, Schad.
