If for no other reason then the potential of the Mascot, this should happen. you've already got the jersey as well, just use the shield. Team colors would be; red, black, blue, green, yellow, and white. Team would be a fool not to do it based on the alternate jerseys along. Not to mention all the theme games. Like "crazy tall white wig" day, or "everyone gets a 18th-19th century corset" day.

Re Charlotte Pop: the Charlotte metro area has an estimated population of 1.5m. Burbs are a huge deal in this area.

In other population news, Raleigh metro (as opposed to RTP) is now in the top 50 most populated us cities, coming in at 49. 10 city jump from 2000. Durham is the 102 largest city, so RTP must've also gotten a boost in... whatever it is considered. A greater metro area? Business district?

yeah, MSA is a much better way to gauge population than pure city limit popuation. look at miami and atlanta, their city pop isnt that great, but they metro pop (MSA) is huge comparatively.

so did anyone else in the charlotte area get rocked by hail last night? im talking quarter sized hail... stuff that looks like like baby jesus knocked over a ginormous bucket of ice from the skies... stuff that looks like a 58th level ice wizard took a dump on your house? ive always heard about hail that size but i have never seen it until last night. my car looks like a golf ball, with 100s of dimples covering it. and the weird thing... everyone else i talked to in charlotte today didnt get hit like that... even some people living less than a mile away didnt get it. strange.

We've been seeing heaps of crazy hail storms over here in Australia.

Melbourne got hammered a few weeks ago, Perth got smashed last week.. It was raining cricket balls

holy crap to the last picture.

The 2010 draft ends the Isiah Thomas-Knicks era.
This trade
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1700818
Followed by this trade
http://www.nba.com/jazz/news/gugliotta_021904.html
will give the 49-26 (currently) Jazz a lottery pick in this years draft. Oh wait, i'm sorry, an UNprotected lottery pick in this years draft. They only have the 8th best chance at the no.1 pick (currently), but still. This could very well wind up being like when the Pistons got the no. 2 pick in the 2003 draft...and then botched it.

That Perth storm was intense, luckily I was safely inside when the hail hit. There are plenty of stories of people looking like they had just completed a paintball tournament when they were caught out in the open. All covered in golf ball size bruises, luckily I haven't heard of any serious injuries, a direct hit in the head would have been nasty.
It was a nervous drive home that day, as half the roads were flooded, I was fortunate enough that the water wasn't too deep on my route. I heard of some people seeing water on the road, thinking it was just a pig puddle but then having their cars stall half way through when they realise the water is about 1 metre deep!
All up about 40,000 cars have been written off due to storm damage. A bad day for insurance companies!!!

Wow at the picks. Nothing in the middle of Europe so far (knock on wood). Just th last pic of a car reminded me cars destroyed the same way by big blocks of ice falling from the roofs (we had very snowy winter heere this year).

it is actually quite sunny 50 around % of the time these days here. Hopefully it get better where you live soon.

something pretty cool will be on ABC on saturday at 4pm. they are showing a 30 min movie about the 1990 loyola marymount team that featured the late hank gathers and bo kimble. this was my all-time fav college team ever. people in their mid 30s+ will remember this team vividly as it was one of the most remarkable runs in NCAA tourny history. for some of you younger guys, i highly recommend checking it out. this team was amazing to watch. coached by paul westhead, they pushed the pace faster than any team in the history of college basketball, like the dantoni suns on speed. they ran teams into the ground. in their conf tourny their best player, hank gathers, dropped dead. the team re-grouped and went into the ncaa tourny minus their best player and they made it to the elite 8 before finally falling to the larry johnson unlv team. bo kimble played like a man possessed in that tourny, propelling him into the NBA lottery that june (sadly his NBA career was a bust). they destroyed highly ranked michigan (with 4 future nba players) 149 to 115 in the second round of the tourny.

some links
http://www.lmulions.com/sports/m-baskbl ... esult.html - box scores for that season
http://www.lmulions.com/sports/m-baskbl ... stats.html - stats for that season

team avg - 122ppg
kimble avg - 35ppg
gathers avg - 29ppg

my fav college game of all-time - loyola vs lasalle. kimble and gathers were from philly and they returned home to play lasalle led by college superstar (and fellow philly hoops stud) lionel simmons. simmons had 40pts and 19rbs in that game.
