Re: MVP 3.0
I think Kobe will finish 2nd and Durant 3rd..Probably Durant will take some 1st place votes but I believe Kobe will finish 2nd like last year..Wade had more 1st places but Kobe finished 2nd...

Also don't forget that Kobe played very good in November. His team has the better record in the West and the 2nd best in the NBA..
So something like this
LeBron
Kobe
Durant
Howard
Carmelo

This.
I think Howard should get it.

and it doesn't work like you want it to - you can't' assume the same efficiencies while taking 10% more shots.
Durant is a better foul shooter than LeBron, other than their rookie years, their eFG% has been roughly the same.
Durant is a legit 90% free throw shooter. Given he gets to the line just as much as LeBron, that's a 1.5 ppg disparage in points. Also Durant is a much better 3 point shooter than LeBron.
To be a 'legit' 90% free throw shooter you have to shoot 90% for a year at least once during a career. Durant, while close, hasn't breached that threshold. I get the excitement over Durant and everything, but let's not get irrational.

Yeah, the difference between 89.5% and 90% is CRAZY. That extra .5% (that we round up anyway) totally doesn't make him a legit ft shooter

And Calderon is a legit 100% FT shooter because he shot over 98% last year...

Durant has never shot 90% from the FT line. For all I know he could next year, but he hasn't and calling him a 'legit 90% free throw shooter' implies he can do it at a consistent annual basis. Nice straw man though.

I think Durant will only win it if he has a monster playoffs and gets his team to the second round which is unlikely.

The MVP award is for the regular season only, the playoffs don't matter.

lj4mvp wrote:So which is it? 32-33 ppg over the next decade - is that your actual belief or is that something you quoted to discredit Bill Simmons?
And where would you project a player who did this his first 3 seasons
10 ppg on 7.6 fga and TS% .580
16.0 ppg on 11.3 fga and TS% of .602
24.6 ppg on 15.7 fga and TS% of .645
This guy's clearly going to be a career 30 point scorer, right? Wrong. That'w reggie miller. 24.6 ended up being his career high. He only topped the .645 once.
Reggie Miller was 22 when he came into the league, Durant isn't even 22 now. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect Kevin Durant to continue to improve his shooting. His shooting from mid range isn't even that great, he's under 40% from 16-23 feet. His bread and butter has been at the rim, short mid range, and the foul line. He can definitely get better.
lj4mvp wrote:Durant didn't improve his FG% at all between his 2nd and 3rd year. His 3 point shooting got worse. His TS% went up because he gets to the line more, jumping from 7 FTA/game to 10. He's not going to jump that again to 13. If he didn't really improve his shooting from his 2nd year to his 3rd, why assume he's going to do it between his 3rd and 4th year?
Kevin Durant's shown the ability to shoot in the high 30's from 3pt range and it's about shot selection with him. He was shooting in the high 30's until recently when he's cooled off and started taking more three pointers. I agree that Kevin Durant's improvement in scoring efficiency largely has to do with getting to the line more.
lj4mvp wrote:LeBron didn't improve his TS% from his 3rd season until last year. He managed to do that by completely rebuilding his then flawed shot. that's more a special case circumstance than something to be expected from every player.
Kevin Durant definitely has holes in his offensive game. His shot selection can be poor sometimes, and his shot from 16-23 feet definitely needs work. He's gradually moving his game closer to the basket, which has resulted in more FT attempts, and he's improved his FG% at the rim and near the rim every season. There definitely are reasons to expect Durant to continue to improve his offensive game. The fact that he's scoring at his volume at his efficiency shouldn't be discounted. He's not as good as LeBron, but he's undoubtedly a more efficient scorer than LeBron was in his 3rd season.

Re: MVP 3.0
Can LeBron be the NBA's 1st unanimous MVP?Probably not.L.A vote for Kobe and Oklahoma for Durant.
124 votes this year.
Shaq is the GOAT at MVP votes just 1 vote away from unanimous MVP.At 2000 he took 120 from 121 1st place votes.

LeBron last year took 109 from 121 1st place votes..

I would be surprised if Lebron takes it unanimously but this year I think he deserves it. Nice to see young talent like Durrant who will continue to challenge Lebron so he will continue to rise as an all-time great.

Durant's the MVP. Didn't LeBron already win an MVP? Durant single handedly made the Thunder contenders. Remember, I called for them to be an 8th seed. They're even better, because Durant's a franchise player.

So let me get this straight. LeBron shouldn't be MVP because he already won one, and Durant should be MVP because he exceeded your expectations.
