Nick Johnson said he had a stiff back, and didn't want to risk hurting it in a spring training game. He said if it were a regular season game he would have been playing.

Before everybody comes in and starts to bash Sabathia like I know some are going too, lets all remember that he's a notoriously slow starter and has had an ERA over 5 in 3 of the last 4 Aprils. As a matter of fact, lets throw Teixera in there too. It isn't how to start the season, it's how you end it. Both players are going to start slow (and no it isn't the pressure of being a Yankee that's doing it), but they will turn it around soon enough.

this has been brought up b4, my concern is with the parity in the AL east and now the West teams getting good too Im always worried about the team digging out a big hole and not being able to climb out of it fully and missing the playoffs by being a 1 or 2 GB at the end of the year.

Geez, these guys haven't even thrown 100 total pitches yet in a time where they are primarily throwing fastballs and people are already talking slow starts a month before opening day.

at least you guys know who's starting where as for my mets the moron(manuel) wants the only legit blue chipping pitching prospect with legit stuff that doesn't come often to be a reliever instead of making him stretch his arm in the minors to become a starter instead.
you know how sad it is how every met fan wants mejia to get bombed for he won't make the team, this never happens ... first time ever, we don't want manuel ruining mejia ... now yankee fans claiming about their starters doesn't seem so big, now does it

LOL Y U MAD THO?

mitchell robinson has blocked zion williamson 3 times as of 7/6/19.

Maybe I missed a bad game, but I though Hughes was looking good for the 5th starter spot? Though my gut tells me he'll be in the pen

So...why did Mark Melancon get sent to Minors? I thought he pitched well last year, and is perhaps tabbed as future closer. Is it to get innings he might not get in majors - ie #'s game, or did he not pitch well?

It is more to get consistent innings that he wouldn't get in the majors right now. Our bullpen is pretty deep and there were a lot of guys fighting for few spots, they were impressed with him this spring and he pitched well.

So this switch-pitcher...what happens if he faces a switch hitter? It would be hilarious if they just kept switching before a pitch is thrown.

Re: yankees 2010 Spring Training thread
btw, hughes looked great today imo, he gave up a couple in the first inning, but that prolly due to the delay cuz Spann fouled a ball that hit his mother.....hughes was throwing well, a couple breaking balls he left in the middle that cost him
