If there is a God in Heaven he will let this happen. Nothing like watching Free Shoes University reel as Bobby Bowden coaches the next 70 years without a successor.

I'd go with you as far as saying that being a coach who recruits kids is a bit different from other jobs. However, I've certainly seen coaches who stay loyal when they're hot then get fired the moment they're not, after which they often never make the money they were making before, let alone the money they'd have made had they taken the other job.

You mentioned $500K like it's not a lot of money, but we're talking a raise of over 25% here. In every day life, people change jobs for significantly less percentage than that. And it's not like you can really say "He doesn't need the money". Sure he's in excellent shape, but compare him to other people in sports. If athletes are still concerned with money after they make $100 million, it's really naive to think somebody who hasn't gotten to $10 million can be expected to ignore money.

Most hilarious rumour of the day: Nick Saban's agent has contacted WVU and wants them to make him an offer. He's from West Virginia and is unhappy at Alabama already.

Nicky Saban is a joke. Nothing surprises me about him anymore.

Ugh who cares about Rich. Hes a stubborn mule. His inability to attack the other teams weaknesses was what kept us out of the national championship. Hes a rat and I hope Michigan continues to stink. There is no way in hell Ryan Mallet can do what Rodriguez will want him to and there is no way in hell Rodriguez will bend his offense to fit Mallets style.

Mallet better transfer because he has no future as a Wolverine.

But ughhh please keep Nick Saban away from here.

i was curious to see what kind of history wvu had (found it odd to see their fan here trashing rodriguez after he built them into a contender) and noticed that they had a run of coaches from the 20s through the 50s who went by (in order): doc, rodg, greasy, trusty, little sleepy, bill, dud, and pappy.

random one in a billion chance out of my butt shot in the dark just for laughs prediction: larry coker will take the wvu job.

New head coach has been found for West Virginia. John Holliday is to be announced this evening, by the looks of it.

Right now, he's the Associate HC, Safeties Coach, and the Recruiting Co-ordinator for the Florida Gators.

Big loss for the Gators.

No kidding?!?

Inspired big-name choice for a school not noted for either quality.

FYI--I heard from a very reliable inside source that Brian Kelly refused to talk to West Virginia about their coaching job. Part of that is Kelly won't talk to anyone until after Cincy plays their bowl game and WVU wouldn't wait.

It's Doc Holliday and it looks like an announcement won't come tonight. Terry Bowden was also interviewed.

How long before Mike Locksley gets a big time job?

He is one of the best recruiters in the country and has shown he can really coach. His game plan vs Ohio State was superb.

It seems like he would be a perfect fit for WVU.. He locks down the Maryland/DC area with his connections and could bring he also runs the spread.

Not sure why he's not getting mentioned for the WVU job. He should be a top guy IMO.

That's a good hire for WFVU if true but I doubt it cripples Florida that much. Is it really that hard to find someone with great recruiting connections in that state to become a position coach? Urban Meyer probably has a list of high school coaches in his Rolodex that he can tap into.

Uh ... John Holliday IS Doc Holliday.

Anyways ... seems like Bowden is getting his name into this. No one seems to know what's going to happen now.

Like there was any chance of him going there. Mike is always getting calls from other schools and pro teams at this time every year and he always turns them down. Not sure if you were worried about him leaving, but if you were, why would you worry? It's going to take a hell of a lot to draw him away from Eugene...a hell of a lot more that UCLA could dream of offering.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Oregon fans, for the first time in a while, began to seriously ask themselves what they would do if Bellotti jumped the shark. The rumors probably have a solid base but all I heard from fellow Oregon students was based in hypothetical streams of thought.

Bellotti won't coach at Oregon forever.
