Batista to retire?

Post#1 » by jeffhardyfan52 » Fri Apr 2, 2010 4:59 am

In a follow up to our story earlier, Batista has told friends backstage the he is looking to take an extended break from the Pro Wrestling world, possibly following the Extreme Rules PPV later this month.

ProWrestling.NET is now reporting that Batista’s talks of taking a break even lead to him hinting at possibly retiring. Upon his retirement from the squared circle, Batista is looking to focus on an acting career. It should be noted, Batista has made the claim of retiring several times over the last three years, but it becomes more realistic with each passing year.

-- WWE’s corporate website released early estimates for the Elimination Chamber PPV, which did close to 300,000 PPV Buys. This number is up slightly from last year’s buyrate.

I like him as long as he's a heel.

True. I've seen it. He was very charismatic, and quite verbose.

Yes, he's quite dramatic. When the other guest tasters, Mo Rocca and the chef chick I think, offered up their remainder after EVERY dish... I kinda started feeling bad for him.

Isn't Batista 41? Not a bad move on his part, IMO...even with the short career.

He saw a lot of success. Success guys who spend 20+ years in the business only hope to reach.

I'm kinda on the fence of him retiring or not. It would obviously free up a spot for someone else, but then again he still got a year or so left in him I think.

A year or so? Go to TNA and he's got another 20+.

Ditto. Batista is dime a dozen. He's a big, juiced up body who can suplex, can't sell, has no charisma and can't work a mic. I'd rather watch McIntyre over Batista every day of the week.

Ehhh, I dunno about that. I don't see the comparison at all.

I'd say he's a glorified Ahmed Johnson, if anything.

I don't think I'd have talentless and Lex Luger in the same sentence, personally, but whatever. He couldn't cut a promo but I always liked his work in the ring. Shame to see the state he's in now, but that's karma.

Ahmed Johnson was actually very talented. He was doing the same stuff HBK was doing in the mid-90's athletically.

And he was also the stiffest SOB this side of Vader, too. He hurt a lot of jobbers in a short amount of time with his work style; especially on the Pearl River Plunge. He always let go too early and really sloppy and the guys almost always landed on their shoulders or neck.

Even the WWE's schedule is weak compared to what it used to be in the 1980's. It's amazing how wrestlers today would have reacted given a schedule similar to what they used to have.
