They need to focus on building some momentum going into the playoffs first, but I agree 100%.

Glad that's out of the way. I'm curious to know how much it's for as well.

So does this mean Kobe can't opt out at the end of this season? How does that work? Say we tank in the playoffs and we get another irate Kobe. Does this insure that won't happen?

The extension is probably in the 30 million dollar range. And no Kobe can't opt out after this season but I won't be surprised if there is another player option for the final year of the extension so Kobe could potentially opt out in the summer of 2013

Glad to see this happen if only that it shows Wade how important staying with the same franchise your entire career is. Grats to Lakers fans.

Not a Laker fan here, but it said 3 year extension that could be worth up to $90 million..... are you guys happy with that?

It doesn't matter if we're happy with it Kobe could get a 5th ring in June he deserves that kind of money. Obviously alot of us here would've liked it if it was maybe 10 million dollars cheaper but again Kobe has earned it.

He's the best 2 in all of basketball right now. He makes a pretty legitimate argument with Michael Jordan. I'd pay him a gazillion if such a number existed. Great move, great to keep your core.

It ain't all about regular season. You still have great front-court depth, excellent passing and shooting. The title still goes through LA.

It won't effect the Lakers at upgrading at other positions this summer the 30 million doesn't start until summer 2011 he's gonna make 24 million next season. But one thing will become obvious next season the Lakers if they get Felton and they have Kobe, Pau, Bynum Odom, Artest, and Brown signed that's going to be the rotation for at least the next 2 or 3 seasons. Everybody around those 7 players with the exception of Walton are going to be minimum level players and rookies.

this is good to hear. wish it was done before now,but glad it is out of the way. now we have kobe, pau, bynum, and odom locked up for the next two years atleast. this is great news for laker fans.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!
