NOTES FROM THE RAFTERS
just got back from the game... great win
- ive been wanting to see this bucks squad play live for a while. i just had to know why they were winning all those games. im glad i saw them in person. you can really get a sense of how "good" (i'll come back to this) they are defensively. they pack the paint, cut off all penetration and force you to drive into traffic or shoot jumpers. not a good matchup for us, seeing as how wallace had no room to get into the lane and we cant shoot. they are basically a lot like us, great team defense, good rebounders, salmons = jax. the main differnce, i think they have more shooters and of course they have bogut who trumps anything we have down low.
- jax continues his good/bad routine. dude carries the team on his back in the first half on offense, yet commits 6 of the most awful turnovers. he makes 2 HUGE 3s in the 4th, yet got benched for hulk for airballs and complaining to the refs.
- felton was fantastic defensively against jennings. i cant remember one time when ray got beat off the dribble tonight.
- dave hanners 1-0. get some.
- amazing crowd again tonight. that place is starting to get loud on a regular basis. i am finally seeing passion from fans. hearing guys yell "bull" at the top of their lungs after bad calls is usually a sign that people are really getting into the games (not that i am promoting such behavior). however, it was disappointing to see so many fans heading for the exit when the game went into OT. what the hell was that all about?
- tyrus did not look good. kinda roamed around lost. hanners put him out of his misery for the rest of the night.
- coaching move of the night, benching jax for hulk in the 3rd. hulk really lifted the team during that spurt, as did dj with two monster 3s.
- ok back to the bucks defense... they remind me of the 90s heat/knicks teams and that is not a compliment, because i hate that style of defense. they grab, hold, push, hack on literally every single play of the entire game. its that riley coaching philosophy that the refs simply cant and wont call all the fouls. salmons is the worst offender of the bunch. he looked like dan majerlie out there grabbing and holding jax and crash all game. that being said, salmons was fantastic on offense and the bucks are still a great team defense. i just wish they would cut out the holding and grabbing.
