George Hill out

Post#1 » by SApuro_ » Sun Apr 4, 2010 11:59 pm

Hill is out at least 2 games with a sprained ankle. How much does that effect our run?

I don't know. We don't have a 3rd string PG and who figured we'd lose both of our PG? Antonio Daniels is out there. I'd love to have him back. He has developed into a pretty decent backup PG over the years. Not sure why he doesn't have an NBA job this year thou. There are plenty of worse players than him. Or hey, come back Jacque Vaughn. We could use you on a 10 day contract.

Forgot about Daniels. He was TD's best friend on the team when he was a Spur.

Apparently Manu will be manning the point:

"I'm a little worried about everything that's coming up now without George," said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, referring to road games against Denver, Phoenix and Dallas. "It's going to be difficult to sustain that and have Manu play the point in all these games coming up. We'll have to figure something out."

We have a roster spot right? I really do think having 3 PG on the team is important. Roger Mason is not a PG at all and I don't think making Manu a full time PG is good. I'm afraid he'll start worrying about running the team and getting everyone their touches opposed to attack attack and attack.

We do have an open spot, but Hill is only out 2 games and Tony will be back in a week or so. But it couldn't hurt to at least keep an eye out for some insurance at that position.

Personally, I think if we bring in a PG, it has to be Jacque Vaughn.

This late into the season, we can't just bring in a PG and teach them the plays. We need someone who already knows the plays and while he has no experience playing with Dice, Blair, or Jefferson, he's played with Manu, Bonner, and Tim Duncan. That's already 4 guys (including himself) out on the floor.

We do not have a roster spot actually. We signed Garrett Temple, Curtis Jerrells and Alonzo Gee. I think for a couple of games we can make it work w/o Hill. We will probably start Temple and keep the second unit intact - we've been playing w/o a 2nd-string PG for a long time, Manu and Mason will handle the ball just like when Hill was playing and Temple should get some minutes depending on how well he's playing. Maybe even Jerrells could see playing time if the situation is right.
