2010 Draft Thread
Skins trade #4 rd-1to Niners for both 1st rounders (13, 17) rd-1 and a swap of seconds skins get 49, niners get 36??
This may be better: Skins trade #4 rd-1 for number #17 rd-1 and #49 rd-2 and #185 rd-6
The Niners have a chance to get 2 (#4 & #13) rd-1 immediate impact players on a team already loaded with talent and potential not to mention the uncapped year problems acquiring
players, could make this attractive to Niners brass.
SKINS NEED OFFENSIVE LINEMAN!!!
This trade gives us back the 6th rounder we gave to Miami (Taylor) and an additional
second rounder.
Two of the the three pics in round one and two must be used on offensive lineman and the right ones. If Allen & Co. Don't get this right it could be the beginning of their legacy in D.C.
If Bradford or Clausen fall to 17 great, wouldn't count on it, ya never know though see
Rodgers, Quinn. What about Spiller or even if the cards in HOG heaven all fell into place and the Skins took lineman with all 3 picks in rd 1 & 2 and these guys were good to great for 8-10 years we would all be happy.
Heck with two 2nd rounders could maybe parlay a 3rd rounder and add more LB depth?
I guess you see the theme TRADE DOWN AND ACQUIRE PICKS PLZZZZ.

Re: Draft pick Trade w/49er's
I'd do the 4th pick for their 13th and 17th pick. No need to trade down in the second round. According to the draft value chart, the Niners would be overpaying in terms of picks.
I think we can go QB and offensive linemen if that were the case in the first round, and then take best player available in the second.

I guess we can use this thread to discuss everything related to the draft. I'll change the title.

Re: 2010 Draft Thread
My ideal draft would be to get an offensive tackle in the first round, and then draft a guy like Colt McCoy in the second round.
There's rumors that the Patriots are interested in trading into the top 6 to get CJ Spiller.
I would trade our #5 for their #22, #44, and #47.
We come in with the draft with 5 picks, add 2 more. At 22, I would take Lupati, who can play guard, or Bruce Campbell who could play either tackle position.
#44 - Go with another offensive linemen.
#47 - By this point, you've added two offensive linemen, so I think they can go BPA here.

I'd be all for it. For as many all-pro reliable Olinemen you get high in the first, it's still a crapshoot and you could just as easily end up with Jason Smith.
What's sad is I would LOVE to have CJ Spiller to take the torch from Portis, but we just have so many other holes in the roster. He's got CJohnson/Jamaal Charles speed and I think he's the real deal. Too bad we can't just trade down and pick up him later in the 1st (a lot of mocks have him dropping all the way to the Texans) and an O-lineman later on.

Re: 2010 Draft Thread
If we can draft down and get a later 1st and 2nd and a 1st next year that would be what I would like to do. Is any team really going to trade up though? I really like Colt McCoy in the 2nd round if he drops to there. I don't like picking either Clausen or Bradford at number 4, but if Bradford was there it would be really hard to pass him up.

Re: 2010 Draft Thread
I saw a recent mock on rotoworld that had Bradford going #1 with Okung going #2 to Detroit, with the claim the Lions have strengthened their D-line and need OL help to protect Stafford who got bruised and beaten last year.
That left Suh going #3
Who would you take at 4 if that were the case?
He had us taking BPA in Mccoy, with Haslett finding a way to use his pass rushing as a DE in the 3-4 scheme. Can't argue with that except for the fact we seem set on the DLine.
That meant we passed on Claussen, who I agree would be a reach over other players at the 4 spot.
Bryant, Spiller, Bruce Campbell, Berry... a lot of players who could fill other needs would be out there.

I'd trade down, and if I can't find takers, I'd take McCoy. But I would seriously trade down as McCoy was expected to be a top 3 pick, and he falls to 5.

Re: 2010 Draft Thread
We're one of 5 teams who are working out Tebow. #37 wouldn't be too big a reach for him I guess. I'm not a huge fan of the idea, if he fails as a QB we're already more than loaded at TE. But if anybody could do it it'd be him. I'd MUCH rather go Okung @4 and Tebow @37 than take Clausen @ 4 and whatever else in the 2nd.

Re: 2010 Draft Thread
I hope the focus of the draft is the offensive line. If Okung has been drafted I hope the Redskins trade down and pick up some extra picks. I also would not mind seeing some vets traded for picks.

Re: 2010 Draft Thread
I think if we could trade down with Seattle and get maybe a 4th round pick in return, we should do it. At that point, they could still draft a guy like Trent Williams.

A guy on NFL network made a good point that even if Okung is gone by #4, the Skins should still take the BPA. The argument is that when you have the chance to take a great player that high, you take it and find other ways to fill out your depth chart. Part of me agrees with him, especially this year when it's much more possible to make trades because there's no cap. We go BPA at #4 and if he duplicates somebody else, we look to trade that somebody else for a position of need.

The only problem is the BPA will probably be a DT (Suh or Mccoy). The incumbent I would LOVE to trade for a position of need if that happened would be Haynesworth, but after we picked up his 21 million dollar roster bonus he's fairly untradeable.

I read an article that said Haynesworth is very desirable at this point. Because the money has been paid and there is no cap the remainder of his deal is very favorable. Basically there is 3 years and 16.2 million(9 guaranteed) left on his deal. However Snyder would basically have paid $32 million for one season.

I just read again that if we traded him we would want the trading partner to pay a good bit of that 21 million (per Jason LaCanfora). Can't remember where I read before that the bonus made him untradeable, but LaCanfora still thinks we will look to unload him for the right price before the draft. He listed the Lions, Rams, Bucs, and Jags as interested. If that's the case count me in. Something tells me Snyder will live no matter how much money he stands to lose.
Anybody got Al Davis' number so I can get this crackin' personally? The man loves big names and their run D has been terrible (in the bottom ten the last 7 yrs). Sounds like a plan...
(Although after Jamarcus Russell reportedly showed up ten lbs shy of 300, maybe they could just convert him to DT.)

Re: 2010 Draft Thread
I put a link to another Haynesworth article in the "Offseason" thread.
Getting back to the draft, I wonder if Shanahan might still draft a running back in the later rounds even with the 3 guys they already have.

Re: 2010 Draft Thread
I wouldn't be against it. I still don't think all 3 of Parker, LJ, and C.Po make the regular season roster, not with zero of them participating on special teams.
If we trade JCam, H'Worth, Carter, or trade down for more picks, I think it's within the realm of probability. Lonyae Miller from Fresno and Joique Bell are two guys I'd look at if we were taking a stab in the much later rounds. Miller is a larger back that broke off a ton of long runs and displayed lots of home run ability, and Joique absolutely ruled division II football and a late pick wouldn't be a waste to see if that translates to the NFL.

We also picked up Ryan Torain as a camp invite. Shanny was high on this kid a couple of years ago.

Didn't he have like 100 yards plus a TD in a half before blowing his knee? And that half was the only half of his career... ever. Talk about 5 minutes of fame. I'd imagine by now his knee is healed, hopefully he's ready to roll because it'd be nice to have a RB I can actually see still playing for us in a couple years.

Crazy as it might seem... even if Okung were still on the board, if I had a chance to take Suh with the #4, I would. This guy will dominate. With Suh on board, you could take pretty much any kind of draft package for Haynesworth (a 3 and a 4?)... and might end up with a couple of serviceable OLs, a dominant DL with a great attitude and lose the cancer that is Haynesworth.
