Would any of us give up his salary if we were in his position? All the same, that contract does make it difficult. However, the King's took him, didn't they?

Back when the Kings were competitive, they lost games because of Noc, literally lost games because of him, he really has himself only to blame, and he should prove he's worthy of minutes not the other way around.

Right, he knows EXACTLY why he isn't playing big minutes anymore. Instead of helping us win, he has been more concerned with "trying" to pad his stats and increase his trade value. I say "trying" because he was throwing up threes and missing them. He may have never been part of the future, but he can blame himself for not being part of the present.

Does anyone here even like the guy? He rarely does anything good when he comes in, and he shoots the ball EVERY TIME he freaking touches it. He wants to go? Well we want him to. He makes rookie mistakes that would only be acceptable from Greene and Casspi. Screw Nocioni.

He does realize hes the "Argetinian Tim Thomas", right? How he ever wound up in an all-star game (andres) baffles me.

Yes it was the Kings decision to take him on...so what? The Kings aren't the ones saying things about Noc. They aren't the ones complaining. If Noc has a problem, then take a buyout and get the hell out of here. If you want your money than STFU and do whatever we want you to do. That's how contracts work.

dumbass.

The unfortunate reality is that the guy really is a tough-nosed ballplayer and pretty decent at that. He would be a fixture on a team like Phil Jackson's various contenders because when he comes in, he is 1) VERY physical with his man; 2) a pretty good positional defender and 3) very nice offense when he is hitting in the offense. The problems are that here he is not a 6-10 guy off the bench that has a specific role and his shot is horrifically inconsistent due to the fact that he is WAY to in love with it. I have seen him make some really spectacular passes every once in a while, but he would much rather hoist a badly off balance three and that just KILLS the offense.

It's been hilarious watching Nocioni relentlessly hit the spots to put himself in position to receive kickouts every play, then get visibly deflated and almost have an aneurysm right on the floor when he doesn't get the pass. He may just be too easily frustrated to play with Evans and Hawes. It's too bad, really. In most games, Evans is simply more effective with Nocioni on the floor instead of Casspi or Greene.

In terms of offensive spacing, Evans is essentially a ballhandling SF. Even though Casspi has the range, mentally Casspi is a forward not a swingman, and he has the tendency to creep in unconsciously closer and closer to the basket when he is supposed to be spacing the floor. Theoretically, Greene is the best fit because he is a true swingman despite his great length, and he can guard big SFs for Evans, unlike Nocioni, Garcia, or Udoka.

Unfortunately, despite having the highest potential, Greene is mentally shakey. If he starts a game well, he is very effective, but if he misses a few shots early it's like he starts to play to avoid touches. He would hit the open spots while avoiding open passing lanes so he wouldn't have to receive a pass and shoot. When he goes into avoidance mode he becomes almost dead weight on offense.

Greene is like the anti-Nocioni. Nocioni could be shooting 1-for-9 and he would still think his next shot is a sure thing and would keep hitting the passing lanes hard to put himself in position to receive passes (and if he starts to become frustrated after not getting the "wide open" kickouts a few times, he starts chucking up shots every time he touches the ball). It's hard not to wish that you could take some of Nocioni's (over)confidence and put it in Greene. Even though Casspi is the rookie, he plays with a lot more confidence than Greene does.

I think the more important question is what is a realistic trade for him that the Kings should actually do?

Umm...definitely yes. Clear off the last year of salary for Noc's contract. I couldn't care less of Vujacic actually sticks with the team. It's about clearing that salary.

Sorry my bad. On his Career stats and totals page on nba.com it shows his as playing 25 minutes in 1 "all star game". That was then, today I looked at the bio page ( i was shocked at the time of my post you quoted, to see he was in an all-star game) and saw that he was in a rookie challenge. Which makes a hell of a lot more sense.

And Noc could screw up the Lakers for a couple of years. I do hate Vujacic, but Noc is a disease.

I wouldn't expect to get much from trading Nocioni, but I'd like to think we can get a better return than Vujacic

There is not a single redeeming quality about Nocioni that is broadcasted with him on this team. Mahybe he's a better fit with some vet. team. They certainly won't want to trade for him at this point. I'd take anything we can get.

No, we really can't. Vujacic isn't the important part at all. Noc has negative value at his price tag right now. So getting expirings for him is the best we can hope for.
