Bill Parcells headed to... Atlanta?

Post#1 » by BirdmanSO » Wed Dec 19, 2007 4:22 pm

This morning on Mike & Mike there was a great deal of attention payed to Bill Parcells impending position as the head coach and GM of the Atlanta Falcons.

If you had it to do over with again who would you go with - Wade Phillips or Bill Parcells? What do you make of it?

Wade Phillips 11 times out of 10. Parcells is a cranky senile bastard whose best days are barely visible in the rearview mirror.

Parcells came in and cleaned out a miserable roster and turned it into a very good one. He found the gold coin in Romo when other guys would've kicked him to the curb or buried him. He'll do well in that role with Atlanta. He is the real Mr. Fix It.

But as a head coach, he's done. Like Kohl said, too miserable and senile, etc. As the fake Jerry Jones once said "I'm tired of Bill being such a kill joy. He'd experience a month-long Jessica Simpson induced orgasm and say it was just Ok."

He just made everyone miserable and they weren't going to blossom under that big thumb.

QFT, but he also messed around with several picks and left many other obviously better players behind. Julius Jones for Stephen Jackson, Carpenter with Cromartie and Manny Lawson on the board. Fasano with Trueblood and Devin Hester, Rogers and Peterman were disasters. These are the picks that make your team better. 1-3 round picks. I will take all of the pat watkins I can get, but he does not make a difference. Jackson, Lawson, and Hester would be huge here.

I know you can do this every year. It is just that these were obvious, and Jerry and Bill f'ed them up. I could also toss spears in here.

id say the real reason we kept romo b/c quincy is a dumbass and sean payton had as much to do w/developing him as parcells.

as for a guy like hester, who knew this guy would be that good, who drafts a KR in the 3rd round? for every devin hester im sure there's 10 skyler green's.

i give parcells credit for building this team but he didnt sign leonard davis, if he had it his way we wouldnt have TO and we certainly wouldnt be 12-2. i think he'd be fine as a GM but im sure somewhere down the line his ego would get in the way there also.

Exactly, Sean Payton deserves the credit on Romo.

The 04 draft he did pretty horrible, Crayton and Reeves are the only ones that are doing anything and those were 5th and 7th rounders.

Jacob Rogers early third rounder, garbage (On that note, are there any USC Olineman that havent sucked ass? Im sure there could be but can someone give me an example?)

Stephen Peterman the other third rounder, also an Olineman

Bruce Thornton fourth rounder, played in one game as a kick returner and wasnt here his second season

Sean Ryan fifth round TE played in 6 games and had one tackle, i assume that was on special teams

The abysmal piece of trash known as Nate Jones. True he was 7th rounder, but the fact hes been kept around while being so awful is just disturbing. (Yea Phillips has kept him here too but this is his first year and hes seeing what he has with him. Though it should be noted Jones was released to make room for Tank when we signed him. Then later re-signed.)

Then theres the whole trading down for Julius Jones, which I actually dont have a big problem with if what studcrackers said (i think it was him anyways) is true. That if we only had one first rounder the next year we would have taken Spears and not Ware. That also is horrible to think of

05 was really a great draft overall.

Spears - Im not as disappointed in him as most, but we could have done better

Ware - Hes a frickin beast and the best linebacker we've had since Haley (even though hes probably better)

Burnett 2nd round - Hes really made some idiot plays this year (taunting Jacobs) but also has made some really good ones so that works out

Marion Barber in the 4th round - Any time you get a Pro Bowl running back in the 4th round youve made a brilliant decision

Chris Canty 4th round - Took a little while to get there but I've loved what I've seen from him this year. Especially how hes been playing since that Minnesota game (that blocked kick seemed to be the start of it). His size and quickness at it is great.

Justin Beriault 6th round - He looked pretty good but unfortunately had to retire due to injury before his second season

Rob Petitti 6th round - Was impressive his rookie year but for some reason couldnt even make it as a backup for the second year. Dont really understand that.

Jay Ratliff 7th round - Hard to believe this guy was a 7th round pick with how well hes performed.

06 draft looks like yet another crapfest

From wasting a first on a bust at a position we didnt even badly need to using a second rounder on a position we didnt need. Fasano hasnt been bad, but its not like we needed to spend a 2nd rounder on a backup TE whos not anything special.

Hatcher isnt a bad specialist to fill in at DE occasionally, but why use a third rounder on that?

Skyler Green in the fourth round

Watkins could be decent i guess.

As for WR's he was hit and miss. Glenn turned out to be a great pickup. Keyshawn for Galloway is probably a wash at best, though it made sense to pair a bigger guy with a burner like Glenn. Bryant for Morgan, meh, a headcase bust with drug issues for a bust without them. Peerless Price, as Happy Gilmore said, The Price is wrong Bitch!

Anthony Henry and Marc Colombo were great pickups though.
