Faster pace!!!!!!!!!!

Post#1 » by joe.linnen » Thu Apr 8, 2010 8:04 am

I know the triangle is a great offence, but with Bynum out I say we run a lot more. Were a much better team as a running team because we have all the offencive weapons we need to pull it off and on top of that we can defend too. I think its time for us to kick it into high gear and become a running team for the playoffs. I really do believe that we can play SOMEWHAT like the Showtime Lakers. I really do think we can be somewhat unstopable if we were to run more, we have players that can shoot or finish at the basket. I just want to know if any of you guys agree with me on this.

Like it was just mentioned, why change the pace of the game to a pace where the Lakers would be put at a disadvantage? Smoothly run halfcourt offense is what wins in the playoffs along side defense, not a higher paced game. Also, why would the Lakers want to mess with what worked last year and throw off their rhythm? And why would they speed up the game allowing the other teams point guards to dictate the tempo? Last I checked the Lakers don't have excellent passers in the open floor compared to who they'll face. Williams, Nash, Billups, Westbrook, Brooks, Kidd, ring a bell? Poor Fish will be jugging from breathes after 3 minutes. With all do respect, faster pace my ass.

we've been scouted with a target on our backs like crazy esp after winning the chip. They know our style too well and figured out doubling pau , letting kobe mass fg attempts and letting guys like odom/fish/artest take outside shots that do not go in. One positive i can take out of this..despite our poor play we are top seed...thats just nuts? we cannot be touched if we can display our A game.

I've been saying this all season long, we are playing wayyy too slow! Like it or not, Lakers is a offensive oriented team and should play that way. For an offensive oriented team to function at its best, they need to have fast break points from here and there. I am not saying we should run our offense the old Phoenix style, but we can't keep slowing down the pace on every single possession for no reason. When there is an opportunity for fast break, we should take it! By slowing down our pace, our offense has become incredibly stagnant; Gasol is seeing more physical defenders than ever; and Kobe has turned into a turnover machine. The lack of offense also led to inconsistency defensive efforts because our offense is what fuels our defense. The key to winning a championship is not walking the ball up the court every time but to play the basketball our way. And we are not playing Lakers basketball right now.

faster pace. no they do not need to go faster. They just need to be on there game and forget the regular season. This team is a dead team walking right now.
