Is Vernon now tradeable?
I'm lovin what I see. And it could be real because Vernon is a slow starter, so if he's going now it should mean he's in for a huge year. All that said, should we put him on the block now and strike while the iron's hot?

Re: Is Vernon now tradeable?
Going to take more than one good series to make him tradeable. No one's taking his 5/100 and change deal because he hit well for 3 games in Texas.

Re: Is Vernon now tradeable?
Teams don't usually absorb $100m contracts on the promise of three games against a team with notoriously bad pitching.

**** your asterisk.

Re: Is Vernon now tradeable?
Lol this thread is at least 3 months early. If he plays solid and is amongst the league leaders in the offensive categories by the deadline, I can maybe see him being trade-able. Even then I think we'd have to pay some of his contract.
At that point though, I can't see Rogers letting him go as he's probably one of the only things attracting fans.

All right fine, we'll bring this thread back in 3 months. But you heard it here first. VDub will have a superstar season this year. Not just an all-star year. But he'll look like a superstar.

It's about 2 years early if you ask me.

Re: Is Vernon now tradeable?
Yeah, I want to be clear here: his contract makes him exceedingly difficult to trade, but I don't doubt that Wells will keep up this production. There might be a slight drop-off, but .550/.675/1.850 and an OPS+ around 400 (he was at 657 entering the game) seems reasonable.
Hilariously idiotic Wellz Factz of the day:
- Last year, Vernon hit his fourth HR on May 4th. And he had a pretty solid start to the year.
- He didn't reach 7 RBIs until April 23rd, his 17th game.
- He has already been named to the All-Star team...for the 2014 season.

Re: Is Vernon now tradeable?
This has already been said, but it's so egregious that warrants saying again: Are you freaking kidding? Wells contract has been called the worst in baseball history, and you think THREE games can change that? This isn't the NFL, son. Three games is nothing in a baseball season! If Wells hit .300 with 30 homers he still wouldn't be tradeable! Get real.

You know your thread is too early when none of the comments are "I was wondering how long it would take someone to make this thread".

This.
But if he keeps this up for a while, maybe we might be able to get rid of him.

C'mon guys it's sports, you're supposed to have fun. Am I the only one whose eye lit up after that 9th inning jack and thought....dang, if he gets back to where he needs to be we might actually be able to trade him!!! Wasn't that thought totally off the radar coming into the season? Hands together and let's all pray this keeps up!

In reality, all this means is that he's healthy and may not be one of the worst players in baseball this season. It still doesn't mean he's anywhere near tradeable.

This again? C'mon now. He's also leading the majors in terrible contract.
