Bogans the new Bowen??

Manu and RJ have been playing some pretty solid defense for us lately so we really haven't had much need for Bogans.

Uhm.. that doesn't quite make sense to me. Parker coming back is like replacing Hill on the rotation.

That means giving Manu and Mason some PG minutes. Instead, we're playing Temple 25 minutes and even giving Hairston some burns while Bogans gets ZERO minutes.

Even if Parker plays limited minutes, I would imagine we see lineups like when Hill was healthy where we play Manu at PG, Bogans at SG, Jefferson at SF and such things. Manu barely played the point the last 2 games. If Temple isn't playing the point, Parker is.

How do we solve the TP/Hill scenario once both are full strength? We can't start them both at the guard spots, we're too small if we go that way. And Hill is too good to play backup to TP for the rest of his career.

I hate to say it, but I think one of them's got to go.

Right now? I think right now we will bring Hill off the bench to play both guard spots. Mason, when both was healthy, was the odd man out and had a Steve Kerr-type specialist role. I assume that's what's gonna happen come playoff time.

As for long term, I don't think I'm ready to trade TP just yet. Ofcourse it'll depend on who we got. Right now, I'd definitely trade TP for an established big guy like a Boozer. Thing is, right now you can't say Hill is an above average starting PG because you can't really know how he fares if he's playing 35 minutes for a whole season opposed to just one month.

I think Hill is a solid, average starting PG. The issue of which to choose will come up when it's Hill's final contract year. By then, we'll have to match the offer for Hill and if he's still improving, then there's no way the Spurs bring back Hill at a high price to play backup role. That's still 2 years down the line.

I guess I'm looking at it more like I don't necessarily want Parker traded, but he's our best chance to get better at the 4/5 while remaining solid (and young) at PG.

We didn't have this luxury two years ago, when Vaughn and Damon Stoudamire were TP's backups. Trading TP back then made no sense. Hill will never be as good as Parker, but he will have a solid career in the league, and deserves to be a starter at some point.

The thing is that Parker is worth a whole lot more to us than any other team.
