Farve tries to remember the 21 Bears QBs

...since his first game as a Packer

The full pathetic story

Bears-Packers a great rivalry? That's a laugh
Favre gets a laugh as he mocks the Bears QB history

Everywhere but Halas Hall, it was a riot the other day when Brett Favre tried in vain to recite the 21 Bears quarterbacks who have started for his NFC North rival since his first game as a Packer.

But innocent or not, Favre's routine openly mocked the Bears. Favre didn't intend to poke fun at anybody in response to a question, but every laugh -- and he was funny -- came at the Bears' expense. Every punch line should have felt like a punch to the gut for the franchise still looking for the next Sid Luckman 57 years later.

"Uh, let's see ... [Jim] Harbaugh. [Rex] Grossman,'' an amused Favre said at the podium in Green Bay. "Was [Jim] McMahon, was he a starter? I don't think so. Peter Tom Willis, maybe? Is that one?"

Yes, good ol' P.T. Willis started two games for the Bears during his inglorious two-year run from 1992-93. Just saying Peter Tom Willis out loud usually draws a chuckle. Good one, Brett.

Don't forget Moses Moreno's start in 1998, as forgettable as it was.

"Yeah, him too,'' Favre said. "Henry Burris maybe?''

Sure, "Happy Hank,'' made Bears fans anything but in his only start in 2002. Yuk, yuk.

Hey, Burris was no Craig Krenzel, who actually won three starts in a row in 2004 between visits to the microbiology lab.

"I've heard the name, but I wouldn't have guessed that one,'' Favre said of Krenzel. "What's the other one, from Stanford? [Steve] Stenstrom. Was he one?''

Indeed, Stenstrom looked like the answer during his starting stint in '98 -- but only if the question was, "Who is the NFL quarterback Bill Walsh was wrong about?''

"I'm struggling here,'' Favre continued, before giving up. "Help me out. Did Griese start against us?''

Brian certainly did, in October. Not that Bob Griese would have fared much worse at his age than some of the 21 quarterbacks the Bears have trotted behind center in the Favre Era.

I thought this would be fun to discuss with my Chicago-related hoops friends. I've moved it here to the football forum. Never been here before. I'll be back in the basketball forum. Hope you guys have fun discussing it.

I can't even remember the past QB's. I find it amazing though that it's so hard to find a reliable QB in the NFL. Lets play spoiler today.

I can't remember all the QBs but I know Favre will be remembering BRIAN URLACHER, CHARLES "PEANUT" TILLMAN, ALEX BROWN, AND MIKE BROWN when he finally retires.
