thats another thing, he's 185lbs at 6'7, he's a quick player so he doesnt need to be big. if he were to add 10-20 lbs, would it make him too slow? thats wat i think. but in morey i trust, and i dont wanna lose brooks, pg defense is irrelevent, forget about it, they dont get shut down. sgs tho...shane battier the best defender on kobe, hmm , cant wait for the offseason . interesting to see how morey deals w/ the lack of defense

To be fair, almost everyone makes the mistake that Martin is 185 pounds. From opposing announcers to major media outlets.

Right now, Martin is at least 195-200 pounds. I remember last year, he was at ~205 pounds at one point.

I think he can put on weight w/o sacrificing too much of his quickness. Right now, he is at Richard Hamilton-Ray Allen weight class. I would like to see him go to another class above. More preferably, Brandon Roy-Andre Iguodala weight class (210-215).

^ I think he's good where he's at as far as weight. He really doesn't have a post game and he basically relies on his speed and quickness to get to the rim. I don't see how more muscle will be beneficial to him. I actually think he would be just as good if he really was 185. The only thing he would be worse at is finishing with contact.

I don't know. With his mentality of attacking the rim with his body type, Martin is risking himself every game injury-wise. There is no one in the past decade or two, having the same frame and body-type that attacks the rim relentlessly. The only player I could think of is Allen Iverson.

There was countless of times I see Martin fell down pretty hard back here in Sacramento and always ask myself "When is the next fall that will cost him to end the season prematurely?"

IMO Martin has been lucky to only sustain a broken left wrist and groin injury as his 'significant' injury in his career.

I don't know if gaining 10 more pounds of muscle is really going to make him less injury prone though. Even bigger players like Maggette get injured frequently from playing recklessly.

Not as much as Martin though.

If you look at Maggette's career. Maggette played 78.7% of available games in the past 11 years. And Martin played (excluding rookie season), 62.6% of his available games in the past 6 years.

I mean, that's 37.4% of games Martin has been either injured or by other means. That is significant.

I think gaining more muscle mass would be tremendous in the long term for Martin IMO.

I called Martin a crippled chucker who can't play a lick of defense when he was with us on the Kings. I've only seen him play once since the trade, but reading some of these comments (anything not joeyyowee), it looks like not much has changed except for perhaps the chucking thing, and he just replaced chucking with pump faking.

Martin sure as hell wasn't fitting on the Kings, but I hope he's working out for you guys. We're enjoying Landry very much, if you were curious. Many Kings fans wish he was a better rebounder though.

Oh, and the Evans/Francis comparison is waaay off. Someone just sounds like a hater.

I am happy that Martin is playing well in Arco tonight, despite at least 3 BS calls he got so far. It's weird being on the other end of those calls when for so many years it's been asset.

Fair enough. Both Evans and Francis are guards and both like to score, but it ends there. Evans is much closer to Roy or even LeBron in his game, and is far from the me-first cancer mentality that Francis has.
