Prince Fielder wants WHAT?!

Post#1 » by VinnyTheMick » Tue Apr 13, 2010 12:25 am

one person familiar with the talks suggested the eight-year contracts of Mark Teixeira and Joe Mauer for $180 million and $184 million, respectively, are viewed by Fielder's people as mere starting points.

And another person familiar with the talks suggested Fielder is seeking about $200 million over eight years, which would represent the biggest contract ever in the non-Alex Rodriguez category and only $23 million less than Mark Attanasio paid for the Brewers in 2004.

Never. Going. To. Happen.

Seriously, who the hell does this guy think he is?

Um...he's every bit as good as Teixeira and Prince will be a year younger when he reaches free agency then when Teixeira did.

He's a pretty equal player to Holliday, Prince is about a win better on offense, but taking into account position and defense Holliday gains that win back. The difference being Prince will be two years younger when he hits free agency then Holliday did.

He is every bit as good as Teixeiria? Teixeira is a gold golve first baseman. Prince, not really. Prince is probably at least 50lbs heavier & that will only get worse overtime.

prince is not worth 25 a year. he will get that nowhere on the market. The Yankees don't need him. The Redsox would much rather take Gonzalez. Can't see the Mets putting that money up. Ditto for any of the LA teams. Do the cubbies break the bank? The white sox?

I just don't see it.

Ok, so Teixeira is 5 runs better on defense, guess who is 5 runs better on offense?

I have no idea what he'll get, just saying he's every bit as good as Teixeira.

Prince is better than Teixeira, but I doubt at team hands out that type of contract right now.

There hitting is similar, while there defense is not. Give me Teixera over Fielder by a slim margin.

Me too. Prince maybe a slightly better hitter, but I'll take Mark's defense over his any day.

A lot of money, but I bet the Yanks sign him to be their DH next season.

I can't wait for the top 25 paid players in the MLB to be Yankees.

Don't delude yourselves into thinking you can sign him, Mark and Doug. Trade him now.

It's inevitable really......LOL

Just kidding.

Yes, but bad-body power hitters tend to age really, really badly. Fielder isn't a giant tub of goo, but I would be extremely worried about giving him a contract paying him through age 35.

They wouldn't sign him though so you won't have to worry about that.
