James Harden's passing skills

Post#1 » by dream_catcher_9 » Tue Apr 13, 2010 11:18 pm

In the beginning of the year he showed some great court vision, but ever since that time frame he has been looking for his own shot and barely even looks to pass. Do you think he lost that vision or is he just instructed to score and defend off the bench?

Down the road he is going to have to show his great court vision while also being a good scorer for us to be successful.

It seems symptomatic with our entire team. Assists aren't really generated from anyone besides the PG's. James had a few nice games early on but I think our offense evolved away from that. He has much better court vision and play making skills than any other non - point guard on our roster, though.

I think his facilitating will emerge more next season, hopefully in a starter's role.

Passing skills don't just disappear. I'm sure Brooks instructed him to be more aggressive as the season went on. He'll find a balance as between creating his own shot and creating for others as he gains experience.

James is a smart player, but don't count on him being able to both score and pass at prolific rates. He can do one or the other, but not both at high rates. He should however play much more consistently next year.
