Donatas Montiejunas
I'm really surprised that there aren't any threads on this kid given that he's slated to be a lottery pick in the NBA draft. He's getting a decent amount of minutes and his numbers aren't bad. He looks to me like he's got a good frame and could fill out pretty well as he gets older. For people that have been watching him play, how does he look? Tell me about his defense---he's averaging a steal and a half per game but doesn't get many blocks. How good of a player do you think he'll eventually become?

I dont like him at all..
If a team goes after European player, i would prefer Jan Vesely over Motiejunas 24/7.. Motiejunas ceiling is pretty much Bargnani - but he is also lazier, mentaly worse than Bargnani..

I prefer Vesely too but i doubt the ceiling of Motiejunas is worse than Vesely who's just a hustling guy at this point... the lithuanian can create his own shot and i would compare him to Gregor Fu-cka rather than Bargnani...

He has tremendous offensive skillset. However, he's soft and inconsistent.

Vesely is not only a hustling guy anymore.. He knows how to get to the baket very well.. But of course, his husting is just outrageous:)
Fučka - hm, might be something.. Is our Slovenian guy still playin, or is he retired?

Just based off what I've read about him, he doesn't seem to have much defensive or rebounding ability. What's the point of having a 7 footer that can't rebound or block shots? At least Dirk can grab some d rebounds.

Don't forget that Dirk had 3,5 rpg in 20 minutes in his first season and 6,5rpg in 35mpg in the second

Gregor is playing in the italian 2nd league in Pistoia... also Carlton Myers and Roberto Chiacig are playing in the 2nd league as well. All members of the '99 Gold Medal version of Italy...

His defense and rebounding should get better as he progresses. But as of right now, he's just not ready for the NBA. He really needs to play in Euroleague where he'll get better prepared.

Well, physically speaking he is an excellent prospect. A true 7 footer that is very fluid, smooth, athletic, has nice skills, good touch, and soft hands. But I have questions about him. He was terrible at the European junior championships where he was asked to lead Lithuania's junior team. It seemed like he didn't care about winning and seemed to be a prima donna.
I don't know, I think he is 50/50. Could be a big bust, or could be really good. The tools are there for sure, but the mental aspect seems questionable to me. As for Vesely, he is a really nice player. I would be really surprised if he got drafted and went to the NBA and failed. To me he is the best 1990 generation player in Europe right now and not Rubio or Motiejunas, whom are the ones that get all the attention from the NBA.

I will take Vesely above him 24/7. An other overhyped kid as usual., and i agree with JVGs.

I don't like him. He's too much like the majority of other European players in that he's soft / doesn't give you anything on defense. His mental approach to the game is very similar to Nikoloz Tskitishvil's I just don't think he's ready to come over to the NBA at this point in time.

This Lithuanian will inevitably be compared to DIRK like every other international player that enters the draft until one of them actually produces and then all international players will be compared to that player. It's a dumb cycle.
