Rutger's Job Vacancy
Hey guys,
I don't know if any of you are Rutgers basketball fans (I'm a St. John's fan but Rutgers is actually my 2nd team since so many of my friends went there) but they are in the process of firing Fred Hill. My buddy that works int he Athletic Department did say that if Rutgers moves to the Big 10, Bobby Knight has already told them he wants to coach them and money is not an issue. However, I honestly think they need to give Lawrence Frank a call. He's from Jersey, even if we don't like him (I don't) I also feel (like a lot of you have said too) that he'd make a great college coach. I was just wondering your thoughts.

I'm sorry, I'm sure you're friend is a trustworthy source but I'm not sure if I can believe that. (I'm a Seton Hall fan btw since I go to the school but I was born and raised a Rutgers fan because I'm from New Brunswick.)

I think Frank would be a very good college coach, but didn't he say a few months ago that he has zero interest in heading to college?

It's been rumored since January if you google it. In an interview, his son even said specifically that if St. John's or Rutgers coaching positions opened he thinks both athletic directors HAVE to make a call to Bobby because he's interested in coaching again. St. John's and Rutgers were the only two schools he mentioned specifically which I found interesting.

Yeah I was discussing this with a buddy. I think he wants to wait and see what pro jobs may open up this offseason. I think if nothing bites (I think one will) he'd consider college. I don't think anyone has formally contacted him and I think he'd definitely listen if that happened and the price was right. A few of us had said it already, but I really believe in my heart Lawrence Frank can be an elite COLLEGE coach.

Re: Rutger's Job Vacancy
Eddie Jordan went to Rutgers, is a high profile name and would be a solid signing. It seems like both him and Rutgers have mutual interest. I've constantly said that Eddie Jordan is an above average coach in the NBA who had gotten raw deals in Washington and Philly. The teams he coached are so overrated or injury riddled it's laughable that they put it all on Jordan's shoulders. Oh well, that fact can help Rutgers land their first solid coach in years.

It was reported yesterday Rutger's AD has formally reached out to Bobby Knight.

I'm going to throw a chair in his honor.

Well, I hope Bobby Knight comes; I hate watching all of New Jersey's premier talent go to Duke and Kentucky.
