Who wants Chad Pennington?

Post#1 » by Rooster » Wed Dec 26, 2007 4:28 am

No way he's back in NY next year and he still has some talent, could maybe regain his stride elsewhere. I know there are a few teams out there looking for a QB. Think he's worth a shot?

Personally, I think that if Favre retires, the Packers might able to slide Pennington into the ensuing gap. It'd be a great opportunity for him and the team could try to avoid too wholesale a regression.

Take a look around the league there are only a few teams that would even make sense to me.

Bears- If they dont resign Grossman. Pennington will keep them in the game, something all of the other QB's dont do.
Chiefs- Only because of Herman Edwards.
Dolphins- If Parcells is committed to rebuilding defense and Green cant come back.
Vikings- Perfect fit, but Jackson has shown enough to warrant starting job.

Honestly thats about it with only the Chiefs and Bears having a chance to use him as a starter. He would make for a great backup, but he dont want to be one.
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.
C- Maluach l Jackson l Hayes
PF- Okongwu l Newell l Salaun
SF- Wiggins l Bryant l McNeeley
SG- Thomas l Wallace l Nembhard
PG- Murray l Collier l Dillingham

I'd rather have Grossman then Pennington.

If we get rid of Grossman I would rather have Pennington than Orton/Griese.

I could see the Falcons cutting Leftwich and Harrington, drafting a QB and letting Chad and Redman battle it out for the starting spot.

I'd say the Panthers or Dolphins are the best bets. No one is probably going to go into next season with him as the undisputed starter, but they probably will give him a fair shot to battle for a starting job. Delhomme is recovering from a shoulder surgery, and David Carr is not a capable starting QB. For the Dolphins, Trent Green is more than likely done...and the jury is still out on John Beck.

Quincy Carter works at a high school as a security guard. Remember him?

The Panthers probably won't have the cap room at QB to get him, though he does make sense there. They have to eat Carr's deal next year, plus they do like Matt Moore as a backup.

The Vikings make perfect sense to me, given their strong run game and pretty good pass blocking. He could run the play-action that he does so well and find their tall WRs in the 10-20 yard range. After this season they will only have Jackson on the roster at QB and they do have cap room too.

If Favre retires the job is Rodgers. No way we want Pennington.

Well that makes sense, it helps keeps the kids off drugs, just have him search them on the way in. Just dont expect an inventory of what hes taken away.

Since Pennington can't throw past 15-20 yards, I can't see him playing in another cold winter environment like a Chicago or Philly because it helps to have a strong arm playing in those conditions. Minnesota would make sense short-term because of the dome....Carolina and Miami are also warm winter climates.
