Pretty damn good second year for our guy. Especially exciting when we've seen how he's accepted the closer role down the stretch. This is going to be a wild summer, and hopefully a great '10-'11 season.

But playoffs first!

Rose had a great year, and he will only keep getting better.

This year he has learned how to be the man.

Derrick Rose is in the Top 15 NBA Scoring Leaders. Of those 15 players he has the 5th best FG%. The four players ahead of Rose with a better FG% are either Forwards or Centers.

So that gives him the best FG% for a guard who's in the top 15 Scoring Leaders. 8-)

He is also one of the top 5 best scoring guards in the NBA and of course has the best FG% out of the five guards.

1. Kobe
2. Dwyane
3. Monta
4. Joe
5. Derrick

Merging October-November, removing the two anomaly Magic games where he was injured in the beginning:

Oct-Nov....: 15gp, 15.6 ppg, 5.1 apg, 3.0 rpg, .500 TS%, 34.9 mpg, 2.93 TOPG
December..: 15gp, 20.4 ppg, 6.1 apg, 3.8 rpg, .494 TS% 37.1 mpg, 2.73 TOPG
January.....: 15gp, 23.1 ppg, 6.4 apg, 4.4 rpg, .534 TS%, 37.3 mpg, 2.73 TOPG
February....: 13gp, 23.6 ppg, 5.6 apg, 4.3 rpg, .567 TS%, 38.7 mpg, 3.08 TOPG
March.......: 10gp, 21.6 ppg, 7.5 apg, 3.6 rpg, .549 TS%, 38.2 mpg, 2.00 TOPG
April..........: 8gp, 25.4 ppg, 7.0 apg, 4.1 rpg, .592 TS%, 41.5 mpg, 3.88 TOPG

Interesting, his assists over the past 2 months have really spiked. The reason is probably due to Hinrich playing on the ball a little bit less, and basically removing all of Flip Murray's on-ball play, because it's terrible. April saw his turnovers spike, though with an 8 game sample, I'm wary this is just random variability more than anything. Combine March and April, you get the same amount as you always do.
His play in April was pretty much balls-to-the-wall Derrick Rose. You could tell.

Those are crazy numbers. Look at that TS% in april. That's on a friggin elite level. He has shown he can do that when it counts the most, because without him playing this well obviously - not to take anything away from Jo and the others who occasionally stepped up - we would be no where.

Conclusion: <3 Derrick Rose.

My favorite numbers are the post-injury ones.

Over a span of 54 games (a very accurate sample size), he averaged 23-6-4 with a 55.0 TS%.

That is flirting with elite status.

cool007 wrote:December.

December is when you will see the real Derrick Rose that we all expected. Once we get back from the road trip, Rose should be in better shape by then and hopefully he is 100% by then as well. Right now you can see he doesn't have enough lift that he had before the ankly injury. Even his dunks are more lay-in than actual slam dunks which he would normally do. His movement has affected by it as well.

So December is the month would be right to track correctly where Rose is and where he is going.

This is what I posted on November 6th.

Spot on.

good call cool007.

If Rose wasn't hobbled early on, his stats would be: 23+, 6+ and 4+ with a 23 PER and elite offensive efficiency. That's frighteningly similar to Wade's sophomore year..
