Remember When.....

Post#1 » by Klomp » Thu Apr 15, 2010 4:58 am

Post your remember when from the past year on the Timberwolves forum. Does not have to be on-the-court related.

Remember when......

...Bill Simmons thought he could do a better job than Kahn at running this team?
...ESPN took away our only nationally-televised game of the year?
...we hoped that Garret Siler and Ben Woodside would make the team?
...revprodeji leaked us the inside information that we would have a hole at point guard after the draft?
...there was a predraft rumor of Jefferson + #6 for Amare?
...Brewer busted Manu's face?
...Pavlovic air-balled a free throw?

OK, I think that about does it for my list for now

Remember when....

...The Big Twitter was breaking news left and right
...Everyone (including myself) wanted no part of Walsh's whipping boy David Kahn as POBO
...Pavlovic was a decent signing
...Hollins had potential
...Brewer didn't know what a 3 was
...Everyone was sure Flynn got drafted to get traded

Remember when...

...Ricky Rubio was a sure fire top 2 pick who would tear up the NBA in 2009
...the 09-10 Timberwolves were going to suprise teams with gritty play and positional mismatches and win 20+ games
...John Stamos used to do those 10-10-220 commercials

Bill Simmons was probably right...

He said he would have drafted Rubio/Curry after all...

Interesting position to take seeing as he has blasted Kahn for taking Rubio every chance he has gotten

... we used all kinds of variations of Kahn's name?
... we thought we wore a Kahn-dom when we thought we could **** the league?
... Stewie made the Celtics his b*tch?
... I won the 1st weeks edition of the +/- game because of that?
... I had a decent streak in said game unlike last year when I won when Randy Foye made the Pistons his bitch?
... my name was incredible?

I remember back in November when people were lauding Kahn for putting a more entertaining product on the floor this year than last.
I remember how annoying Knicks posters can be when they raid your board.

I remember how preposterous we all thought the rumor of 5/6 to Memphis for pick 2 was because we assumed it'd be for Rubio, but what if maybe just maybe we would've taken Tyreke Evans at #2? I would trade Rubio and Flynn for Evans in a second

Not a Wolves fan, but I remember thinking that the Wolves were in a such great posistion for a rebuild. 4 1st round picks and they were clearly rebuilding.

I honestly thought the Wolves would take Rubio to trade his rights for a lower picked (figured they might be looking at Earl Clark <remember being a "can't miss">)player and future picks, take Stephen Curry at 6, figured Jeff Teague or Ty Lawson at 16 (well I was somewhat right), and BJ Mullens (he wound up being off the board) or Dejuan Blair at 28.

I also remember thinking that Pavlovic couldn't possibly not take advantage of joining the Wolves. A veteran of almost 400 nba games, and I figured he would at least be a key reserve. Partially right if you consider helping the team tank makes you a key reserve.

Lynx might give them a run if they played a pick up game.

...I remember when every star player would make an injury comeback against us and tear us a new one.
...I also remember actually wanting to pick up the Gomes option becuase I thought he was a decent role player.
..I remember when Ryan Hollins had TWO ESPN top plays in one game (a sick block, and a sick dunk if i remember correctly).

Lynx would be crushed by a good men's HS team.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
