Congrats Alci! Your run was improbable, which made it all the more fun! Sorry Carl, another year, another "almost" for the invincibles.

Hey, sometimes you just run into Kevin Durant and that's that.

Or, if there's anyone in the league who's been MIA this year (TK?), we could just disperse both Coady's and TK's.

I have no problem with a new comer taking over Standford's team. You get what you get. I don't think that just because people are jealous of the team Standford created we should break it up.

Of course, I guess if we did a dispersal I would walk away with Dirk so I can live with that.

I think if we did a dispersal, there would have to be an expansion draft, separate of the rookie draft. Especially since some of us may have traded our 1st rounders, and if we had known about the dispersion, we would not have traded them.

Yeah it would have to be a separate draft. Disperse the players in the fairest way possible and then conduct an expansion draft...then the rookie draft comes later on.

Like theMan, I don't have a problem with a new manager taking over stanford's team outright. If another team was also needing a new manager, then I could see having a mini-draft of the two new managers to keep things fair between them.

Just so I don't forget. Add Foye to my roster from IL and drop Pietrus. My going into offseason roster will be as follows.

PG: Rajon Rondo
SG: Kobe Bryant
G: Jason Richardson
G: Carlos Delfino
SF: Marvin Williams
PF: Yi Jianlin
F: Anderson Varejao
F: Kevin Love
C: Andray Blatche
C: Serge Ibaka
BN: Randy Foye
BN: Rodney Stuckey
BN: Francisco Garcia
BN: Anthony Morrow
BN: Tracy McGrady

Sly, When is the deadline for deciding who we want to keep and drop.

I advocate just allowing some new manager to take over Coady's team.

Here's a thought. We could give all current managers the option to be a "new" manager by disbanding their current team. Then all new managers would draft from the available player pool first (stanford's team and their own plus free agents), before doing the rookie/free agent draft for the rest of the league.

I think most managers would want to stick with their current teams.

I'll happily take over Stanford's team.

If there are enough people interested, we could do a draft lottery, give everyone a number and see who wins? Just a thought.

I'd do this in a heartbeat... my EoY roster:

PG Mario Chalmers
SG Kevin Martin
G Raymond Felton
G Gilbert Arenas
SF Kevin Durant
PF Troy Murphy
F Spencer Hawes
F Mike Dunleavy
C Brook Lopez
C Zach Randolph
BN Taj Gibson
BN Nate Robinson
BN Mike Miller
BN Richard Jefferson
BN Chris Bosh

If you guys wanted Coady's roster you should have built Coady's roster. There's no reason to "give" his players or entire roster to anyone but the new manager.

It's a tough argument.

On one side:
the 'free ticket' argument. You come in, take over Coady's team, and you become the title favorite for next season and are a contender for years to come.

When I came into the league as an expansion team along with George, we had to build from the bottom up. George won a title, I've had two shocking seasons, but things are finally looking up for me.

This is why I believe there should be a dispersal and an expansion draft.

On the other:
Teams that performed horribly this year suddenly get a Chris Paul or a Dirk Nowitzki to their lineup, whilst the teams above them lose out in two ways - getting an 'inferior' player from Coady's team and then losing more talent in expansion.

I think that with the latter of the two arguments, the dispersal wouldn't be based on record last season. Everyone gets the same number of lottery balls.

If I were a billionaire and were to purchase the Lakers, I would be a title contender. The NBA would not have a dispersal draft just because there was a new owner.

If instead of Stanford's team it was one of the cellar dwellers would this be an issue? No. In fact, precedents has been set when other managers have taken over a team. They took over the team. We did not have a dispersal draft. I can't understand how or why you would have a separate set of rules based on the record of the out going manager's team.

Point.

On the bright side: getting a team to take Stanford's shouldn't be too hard.

How do I sign up for a new account on RealGM?

But I should say, Ham's idea is pretty intruiging.

+1

but, the thing with Ham's idea, you get the best of both teams, which could present a problem (unless I missed something).

I actually don't mind the idea of a dispersal draft. Maybe even throwing the players into the RC/FA draft so even the better teams get value out of it...
